People often comment that the interior of the castle is not what they expect.

The castle is fully furnished with many original pieces from the last people who lived here- Captain Alwyne Farquharson and the Fabulous Frances Farquharson.

There are four floors to explore with amazing stories of The Greats Hunts on the Braes of Mar, Jacobite Risings, Victorian High Society and Clan Farquharson.

We are currently open daily from 10am to 5pm (last entry at 4.30pm)

Braemar Castle was let out in the wild today! Staff and volunteers went to the most uplifting and joyful day at Braemar Junior Highland Games.

Braemar is famous for its β€œGathering” but did you know that local people nurture young competitors, supporters, scouts, cubs, pipe bands, Highland dancers and so many more, so that young folk can find confidence, independence and community.

The commitment by the local community and The Braemar Highland Games Society to give young people an incredible weekend cannot be overstated. Thank you SO MUCH for the invitation to attend.
