I hope that this website gives you a snapshot of the life and work of the school and that you are able to access any information that you need. However, if you are a parent seeking admission, a job applicant or a member of our school community and you are not able to locate the details you require, please give our friendly office staff a call on 01376 321813 and we will be delighted to help.

Please find below information regarding an online training session run by Essex Sexual Health Service (ESHS) focused on increasing awareness and understanding of online child sexual abuse and exploitation. Technology and online spaces are an important part of young people's lives. This session will explore how these spaces can be used to facilitate sexual abuse, grooming and exploitation, as well as the changing risks children and young people may experience online. The session will also consider the important role parents and carers have in creating open, supportive conversations with young people, and how these conversations can help reduce harm and encourage young people to seek support when they need it.
Parents and carers will leave with up-to-date information, increased awareness and clear guidance on supporting young people to navigate relationships and online spaces more safely.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Apologies for contacting you via Facebook, but our SIMS InTouch service is currently down so we cannot send out any messages via normal routes.

Thank you so much for your support and understanding during a challenging period last week. I am pleased that we managed to navigate through safely, only losing two periods of learning, and still giving our Year 6s almost a complete induction experience.

It is pleasing to see that while the forecast for the week ahead is still sunny and hot, there is no suggestion of temperatures in the high 30s as we had to endure on Wednesday and Friday. Hence, from Monday we will return to our normal hours and to full days of lessons, and we expect this to continue unless the forecast changes dramatically. However, as it will still be very warm in classrooms, we will continue to permit students to attend school in PE kit if they wish. The overwhelming majority have complied with our insistence that only the Alec Hunter PE kit - purple AHA polo shirt, loose-fitting black shorts (not cycling shorts or Nike Pros or similar), socks and trainers - is permitted as an alternative to the normal uniform. Please keep in mind that students are not obliged to wear PE kit, so if they do not have any of the items in our PE kit at present, the alternative is to continue wearing normal uniform (no tie required at the moment) rather than wearing a different form of sportswear. We will also lift our temporary ban on intensive activity at social times, so that students may resume football games if they wish, but we will keep this under review and may reintroduce restrictions if the temperatures rise.

Please also continue to ensure your child brings sufficient water to drink during the school day, and we recommend having a sunhat and sun screen with them as well. Students are reminded to refill their water bottles during break and lunchtime as they will not be permitted to leave lessons to access water if they neglect to do this, since it causes significant disruption to learning.

Thanks again for your cooperation and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries about our arrangements.

Best wishes,

Mr T Lawn
Headteacher
