Meet our newest recruits, Laurence and Rhys! 🚒

Laurence is a musician during the day and can be available as an on-call firefighter.

He said: “I wanted to start building towards a long-term career in something that I’m good at and something that I can be proud of. The fire service really appealed to me because it offers the chance to develop a wide range of skills, work as part of a team and do something that has a genuine purpose.

"I’m looking forward to learning, challenging myself and seeing where a career in the fire service could take me.”

Rhys works in security and can give on-call hours outside of this.

He said: “Becoming a firefighter is something I’ve always wanted to do. When I was in Year 9, I took part in a FireBreak course, and that experience really stuck with me. I enjoyed learning about the role and getting an insight into what firefighters do, and from then on it was always something I thought I’d like to pursue.

"The idea of becoming a firefighter never went away. When I got the chance to apply, I knew I had to take it.”

Massive congratulations to FF Beavis, who won Firefighter of the Year at this week's award ceremony 🚒🏆🎖 for Essex Fire service.
Darren is our longest serving Firefighter at Braintree, and everyone looks up to him and his vast experience of over 36 years service both wholetime and on-call.
Darren beat many other nominations to win this award, and it is hugely deserved.👏

We are still actively recruiting for new On-Call Firefighters at Braintree Fire Station.
We have two spaces we would like to fill by Christmas.
If you are keen on helping and supporting our local community, being an On-Call Firefighter could be for you.
Being an On-Call Firefighter fits around your primary employment where you give your spare time to respond by a pager to any incidents.
We are particularly looking for shift workers but will consider any working patterns.
You MUST live within 5 minutes of the station and are over 18

They would be on a squad at the end of the year.

CAN YOU HELP
We have our open day on Saturday at Braintree Fire Station, and we are asking if anyone has any old crockery they do not want anymore? We do a crockery smash stall, which is so popular, but the local charity shops that normally help are very low on stock
Any old plates,bowls etc would be greatly received
