☀️WE’RE AT BRAMPTON COMMUNITY CENTRE’S SUMMER GALA ☀️

Today our councillors are joining Brampton Community Centre and other local clubs and groups until 2.30pm at the Community Centre, we’d love to see you there.

💚 CHAT WITH YOUR PARISH COUNCILLORS
We’ll be on hand to listen to your ideas, concerns and suggestions about life in Brampton. Tell us what you LIKE, what you DON’T LIKE and what you WOULD LIKE to see for the town.

🛝 NEW PLAY AREA
We’ll have a draft design on display for a new play area at King George V field and we want to hear from as many children as possible about the types of equipment they’d love to have.

🚗 30MPH SPEED LIMIT PROPOSALS
We’ll also be showing the plans for the proposed 30MPH speed limits on Capon Tree Road and Newcastle Road. Cumberland Council has extended the consultation period until 14th September, so come along, find out more and share your views.

North Cumberland Speed Limit Review – Your Views Matter

📢 Have your say on a proposed change to the speed limit on Newcastle Road, Brampton

We’ve received an update from Cumberland Council regarding the ongoing North Cumberland Speed Limit Review.

Following further requests received during the consultation period, Cumberland Council has added an additional proposal for a 40mph speed limit buffer on the A6071 Newcastle Road, Brampton.

The proposal is shown on the attached plan and, importantly, the informal consultation period has now been extended until 14 September 2026 to give local residents, businesses and other stakeholders an opportunity to consider and comment on the additional proposal.

🌳 Gelt Woods – Tree Management Update

We are aware that there are a number of fallen trees within Gelt Woods, as well as other trees that have been identified as requiring removal due to their condition.

We are currently in the process of obtaining quotations for the necessary works. Once these have been received and the work has been agreed, we will arrange for the trees to be made safe and removed as soon as possible.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to local residents and walkers, and thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to address the issue.

From 1–31 August, families can enjoy more days out, visits to friends and family, trips to the beach, shopping, adventures and more — while saving money on travel. 💷❤️

It’s all part of the UK Government’s Great British Summer Savings campaign, helping families make the most of the school holidays without stretching the budget.

So why not hop on the bus and make some summer memories? ☀️🚌💛

Free travel is available on participating bus services for children aged 5–15.

PROPOSED CCTV INSTALLATION - BRAMPTON CEMETERY

The Parish Council is considering the installation of a CCTV camera at the Cemetery to help protect the site, improve security and deter anti-social behaviour.

Before making any decision, we would like to hear the views of cemetery users, local residents and other interested parties.

A temporary road closure has been put in place to allow Balfour Beatty to carry out resurfacing works which are expected to commence 2nd August 2026 and anticipated to take 14 days to complete.

🏊‍♂️Make a splash this summer - 10p Swims

All schoolchildren aged up to 16 years old from the Cumberland area will be able to go for a swim in a choice of five indoor pools for only 10p over the school summer holidays.

The discounted scheme starts today Monday (20 July) and runs until Monday 31 August (on specified days) and has been put in place by Cumberland Council, with the support of Everyone Active, GLL and Wigton Baths Trust.

The council scheme will offer discounted swimming opportunities.

It will be available at the following leisure sites at allocated times during the school summer holidays:

Cockermouth Leisure Centre: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 1pm - 2pm each day.
Copeland Pool and Fitness Centre (Whitehaven): Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 1pm - 2pm each day.
The Sands Centre (Carlisle) - Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 10am - 11am each day.
Wigton Baths: Monday: 11am - 12pm. Wednesday: 11.30am - 12.30pm and Friday: 11am - 12pm.
Workington Leisure Centre: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10am - 11am each day.

🌞 Please Help Protect Our Parks and Green Spaces 🌞

With the warm weather continuing, we'd like to remind everyone that portable BBQs and fire pits should not be used on Parish Council land.

We have recently received reports of a couple of incidents involving portable BBQs/fire pits, and even a small fire can quickly spread in the current dry conditions, putting people, wildlife and nearby property at risk.

Whether you're visiting one of the parks, another public open space or the countryside, please use BBQs responsibly, dispose of ci******es safely, take your litter home and help protect all of our green spaces from the risk of fire.

Thank you for helping to keep Brampton and the surrounding area safe 🌳🌿

🎨 Our talented young artists have helped brighten up Brampton! 🌞

The winning artwork from our Summer Arts Project has been turned into banners and is now proudly displayed on the railings outside the library for everyone to enjoy.

Children were asked to create pictures of Brampton, from favourite buildings and views to local wildlife, and the results are fantastic. The banners are displayed from left to right, from Year 3 at Brampton Primary through to Year 9 at William Howard.

A huge thank you to local resident Albert Cook (Bettal Quality Consultancy) for kindly funding the banners and prizes for the winners.

Congratulations to all the children—you've made Brampton an even brighter place! 👏🏻💙🖼️
