Peter will talk about offshore wind as the 21st century replacement for crude oil as the energy source that powers the worldwide economy. Peter has been working on exploring the ability of offshore wind to provide cheap power for electricity storage and to create alternative fuels for the ‘difficult to decarbonise’ sectors like shipping, air travel, HGVs. This is the so-called ‘Power to X’ agenda.
Peter established his first RE business Farm Energy in North Devon in1988. Farm Energy was involved in
many of the first wind farm developments throughout the UK and Ireland. The company developed numbers of onshore wind farms in both countries and in 1999 initiated the London Array project in the Thames Estuary, which was until recently the world’s largest offshore wind farm.
In 2007 Farm Energy launched the Atlantic Array offshore wind farm in the Bristol Channel off the North Devon coast. Peter is currently a director of Morwind Ltd, exploring new floating wind opportunities in the UK’s Celtic Sea region.
