We are a North Devon, England based not for profit group. We research, educate and preserve history In six short months over 10,000 troops trained at the ATC.

In 1943, the US army opened the Assault Training Center to train troops the tactics needed for a beach invasion (Normandy). Check out our website for more information and events. www.assaulttrainingcenterfriends.co.uk

Mystery photo from the USA - Found in a collection of a veteran of 146th Engr C Bn. Reverse has typed "6th June Omaha - Les Moulins". Well it's not Les Moulins and unlikely to be Omaha (skyline is wrong). Any ideas as to the true location ?

745th Tank Battalion were part of the "school troops" at Assault Training Center. Photos taken in September 1943, passed to me by Steve DAVIS.

Parts of our journey today hosting a motor tour of the Assault Training Center. Moving images taken just after we sheltered from an intense hail storm. Had a couple of breakdowns - well the vehicles are over 80 years old - and took an hour longer than planned as we had so much to tell. Huge thank you to our passengers and drivers.
