We’ve had a wonderful week at the Royal Welsh Show, welcoming WI members and visitors from across the country and world. A particular highlight was the visit from Jeryl Stone, Chair of the National Federation of Women’s Institutes.

Our demonstrations have been a joy throughout the week.
On Wednesday, we were delighted to host Sabine Lenny from Brecknock Spinning and Weaving, who shared her beautiful craft and expertise.
On Thursday, Lynda Probert joined us with her engaging Stone Painting demonstration, which drew plenty of interest and creativity from visitors.

Thank you to all our stewards, and to everyone who contributed to making this such a successful and memorable event.

Our Three Peaks Challenge was held on 11th July and 10 WI members and supporters signed up to take part. The challenge was as hard as they could have imagined, but with the added heatwave, the conditions were incredibly difficult.

Rhian Connick Head of NFWI Wales took part and said “The Three Peaks Challenge was by far the hardest thing I have ever done, and the heatwave did not help matters, however despite this, I enjoyed the day, chatting to fellow walkers as we went along, and supporting each other when we needed a little push. It is always good to do something outside your comfort zone and give you something to aim for, the outcome for me was not as expected, but I am proud of what I achieved getting over two peaks and it was great to be able to do it in the name of the WI. We were also able to spread the word of how great the WI is to other women on the walk! So, if the chance comes to challenge yourself, go for it!”

We are always looking for more people to join our challenge or to organise their own in aid of the NFWI.
