Today a group of our colleagues from stations across Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, including two of Brecon's very own crew, Carl Williams and Christina James head off to Atlanta, Georgia USA, to take part in the Memorial Stair Climb in memory of our fallen brothers and sisters who lost their lives on 9/11.
You can still support Carl and Christina if you would like. Please share and spread the message...

Wednesday night, our station received a call that none of us ever expected to receive.

We were mobilised to a serious domestic fire, but this wasn’t just another incident. The house belonged to our Group Manager Phil Morris, and his family.

Tragically, the fire has left the family having lost virtually everything. Their home and possessions have been devastated, and they have been left with little more than the clothes they had with them.

As firefighters, we’re used to being the ones who turn up when somebody is having one of the worst days of their life. We go in, do everything we can to help and try to make a terrible situation that little bit better.

But when that call is for one of your own, it really hits home.

GM Morris has devoted so much of his life and career to the Fire and Rescue Service, helping others when they need it most. He has been an inspiration to so many of us and an incredible fire officer, colleague and friend.

Now it’s our opportunity to be there for him and his family.

The community have set up this JustGiving page to try and take away even a small amount of the pressure they are facing. The money raised will help with the immediate essentials and give the family some support as they begin the incredibly difficult process of getting back on their feet and rebuilding their lives.

If you can spare anything at all, no matter how small, it would mean an enormous amount. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this post and the JustGiving link would be hugely appreciated.

When someone has spent their life helping others, hopefully we can now come together and return some

Absolutely devastating moment in anyone’s life but this is particularly difficult for one of our own colleagues.

GM Phil Morris has served this community for a huge amount of time and directly supported so many of us here at Brecon.

Please donate anything you can to help Phil and his lovely family to get them get back on their feet. They absolutely deserve our support!

Thank you ♥️

Please take the time to read this very moving piece in The Times today.
The Photographer, Jason Ashwood, tagged along with Brecon crews to take pictures of the wildfires. It was a pleasure to have him with us to help raise awareness of wildfire at a national level.

From the very first sighting of the fire on Llangynidr mountain, to every incident that followed, the last 3 weeks has tested fire crews all over Wales (and the English brigade's that supprted us) to their limits. With the incredible farming community, the armed forces, volunteers and the overwhelming response from the general public, we should all be very proud to have played our part in bringing this wildfire season, nearly, to a close.
Here is just a few pictures from the front line.

These pilots are incredible. So accurate, they fill up, fly back, drop off and repeat. In-between the drops the crews jump into the area that has been drenched and beat out any hot-spots with the beaters...over and over and over again!

And they keep coming! Today we were lucky; the helicopter was nearby and was able to come and assist. A good shift resulting in a good stop, preventing fire spread into a large forest. Working alongside Glynneath, Aberdare, Merthyr and Abercrave, with assistance from Brecon's very own Polaris(Atv). Finished in time to grab a well deserved Maccies supper!
