For Everyone's Safety

Due to the hot, dry conditions this summer, the risk of fire is extremely high, and fire can spread quickly to destroy large areas of grassland and woodland.

We kindly ask everyone to follow the guidance of Fire Services and National Parks by not lighting fires or barbecues in such areas.

Your cooperation helps protect our community, wildlife, and the natural environment.

๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ”ฅHigh Fire Risk ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿšซ

Help us to protect our National Park. We urge our visitors to avoid having fires and BBQs.

The ground is very dry at the moment; therefore, the risk of fire is high, and we must take all necessary precautions.

๐Ÿ“ž If you discover a wildfire, get to a safe place and call 999

โค๏ธ Powys Well-being Assessment

A Well-being assessment is something that all Public Service Boards (PSBs) in Wales must publish as part of the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015. It helps Powys County Council to understand what well-being looks like in Powys now and what may need to change in the future.

Powys County Council needs your views to understand what well-being means to you, what matters most in your day-to-day life, and what you consider is important for your well-being now and in the future.

๐ŸŽฃ Fishing Temporarily Suspended - Breconshire Usk Fishing Association Stretch of the River Usk

Due to the current high water temperatures, fishing is temporarily suspended to help protect our fish.

Warm water holds less oxygen, making it much harder for fish to recover after being caught. Even with careful handling, mortality rates increase significantly as temperatures rise.

When fishing is permitted again, please remember:

๐ŸŒก๏ธ Carry a thermometer and check the water temperature regularly โ€“ it can change throughout the day.

๐Ÿšซ No salmon or trout fishing when the water temperature exceeds 20.0ยฐC.

โฐ Fish only during the cooler parts of the day โ€“ early morning or late evening.

๐Ÿ’ง Keep fish in the water at all times, avoid unnecessary handling, skip the photos, and give them plenty of time to recover before release.

Thank you for helping to protect our fish during this period of hot weather. We will provide an update when conditions change.
