Village Green Bench

The bench around the Oak tree on the Village Green has sadly become too small for the size of the tree. Growth of the tree trunk over the past 5 years means that the bench is now rubbing against the tree trunk and this is causing damage to the tree. Additionally the bench is allowing rubbish and leaves to accumulate behind and under it, which further softens the bark. The most recent tree inspection highlighted these concerns and recommended the removal of the bench. The full tree report can be found on the Parish Council website under News items
To prevent further damage and long term risk to the tree, the bench will be removed this weekend and relocated elsewhere at a later date. A new straight bench will be ordered for the Village Green.

Rother Local Plan Review - Regulation 18 Consultation
Rother District Council is currently consulting on the Draft Local Plan 2025-2042. This plan will guide development and land use across Rother up to 2042, including where new homes, jobs, infrastructure and services may be located, while aiming to protect Rother's landscapes, heritage and character.
The Regulation 18 Consultation remains open until March 23rd 2026 and focuses on proposed development sites and strategy. This is a key stage where residents, businesses and Parish and Town Councils can view the proposals and submit comments before the plan progresses to Regulation 19 later in 2026.
