June - Cdt Das

Well done to Cdt Das, who has been awarded our June Cadet of the Month! 🎉

Cdt Das was nominated by CI Moore for an excellent performance in her Blue Leadership Assessment, achieving 49/50 points 👏

🏕️ Windermere Camp 2026!

Cpl Hart, Cdt Attwater and Cdt Onaityte spent a week of their summer on Windermere Camp. Their week included:

🥾 Hiking - including putting their navigation skills to the test
Ghyll Scrambling
🧗 Climbing
🚵 Mountain Biking
Stand-up Paddleboarding - including a huge group paddle session!

And when they weren’t out doing AT, there were plenty of evening activities too, including a Mountain Rescue visit, bowling and a movie night 🚁🎳

A brilliant week of new experiences and memories 🌟

RAF Waddington Camp! ✈️

Cpl Higgs, Cdt Papaphilippou and Cdt Shaik spent a week of their summer at RAF Waddington. The cadets took part in Blue Fieldcraft, learning new skills, and Cpl Higgs and Cdt Shaik had the incredible opportunity to go flying 🤩 They also got up close with the Red Arrows aircraft used for the 60th Diamond anniversary!

We also received a staff commendation praising Cdt Papaphilippou for being a polite and helpful cadet, and a pleasure to have on camp 👏🌟

Summer Sports Nights! ⚽️ Our Summer programme has been filled with Sports Nights and our cadets have thoroughly enjoyed being active and having fun.

From football, tag rugby and rounders, there’s been something for everyone. Some of our sessions have also been used towards completing the DofE Sports section 🏉🏃🏻

✈️ CI Bright and CI McGlone visited the Farnborough International Airshow with Essex Wing RAF Air Cadets.

It was a great day, with flying displays from the Typhoon and F-35A, and the chance to explore exhibits from Boeing and get up close to a Boeing 747 aircraft!

🥳Happy 85th Birthday!

Yesterday, 1483 (Brentwood) Squadron celebrated its 85th Birthday 🎉

Cadets, along with their families and friends, joined us for our annual barbecue, helping to raise funds for our Squadron. It was a fantastic evening with great food and plenty of fun, including our raffle and tombola.

A HUGE thank you to our Civilian Committee for organising such a fantastic event, and to everyone who donated prizes and came along to celebrate with us 🌟

Our cadets had a fantastic time taking part in a paddlesport session at Hoe Mill Lock, where they developed their paddling skills on stand-up paddleboards and taking part in team-building games! 🌊

🥾Our cadets took part in a navigation exercise, developing their map-reading and navigation skills while putting the 6 Ds of navigation into practice.

They focused on:
Direction - taking accurate bearings 🧭
Distance - using a compass & pacings to measure distance
Duration - estimating and measuring their walking pace 👣
Description - identifying key features to tick off along the route 🗺️
Dangers - recognising potential hazards along the route ⚠️
Destination - identifying and describing their destination so they catch themselves from going too far!

It was a fantastic opportunity for our cadets to build their confidence in navigation and work together as a team.

🎉HUGE well done to our Falklands Team who represented 1483 at the Falklands Competition last weekend! 👏

The team have worked hard throughout their training and preparation, demonstrating excellent teamwork throughout.

Competing against 22 Squadrons from across Essex Wing RAF Air Cadets, the team placed 16th overall, as well as achieving 1st Place in Leadership 🥇

A fantastic effort from all of you! 🌟
