Today’s heavy rain is a timely reminder that we must prepare for increasingly extreme weather by investing in flood defences and ensuring our drains & culverts are clear.

We have called for more investment and more focus on practical measures to mitigate the effects of rain and storms.

An Independent led BCBC will make sure that the basics are always prioritised. We will also seek to lead a partnership with Welsh Water, National Resources Wales and others to protect our homes, businesses and local environment.

Nearly a year ago now I submitted a motion to Bridgend Town Council asking to adopt the green space at the top of Cheltenham Terrace/Suffolk Street which was unanimously approved.
Subsequent discussions with the CEO of BCBC led to Bridgend Town Council having a licence to maintain and improve the area and plans have been drawn up and funding sought from the UK PIPIF scheme .
Fingers crossed that the funding is approved and the work will be completed by March next year.
This will greatly improve an area badly neglected by BCBC and highlights the great work being done by an Independent led administration in Bridgend Town Council.
