What is the Summer Reading Challenge?
The Summer Reading Challenge encourages children to keep reading during the summer holidays, ensuring they are ready for a great start to the new term in the autumn. Children set a reading goal and collect rewards for reading anything they enjoy. Children can sign up at their local library or online, and it’s FREE to take part!
We can't wait for this year's challenge, 'Read to the Beat', to start on !!

Free Author Talk with Emma Forrester: An Afternoon inside Queen’s Road
Friday10th July 2026 from 2.00 to 3.30pm at Bridgwater Arts Centre
Drawing inspiration from local places and people, Emma Forrester writes stories about ordinary individuals facing extraordinary circumstances. Emma’s debut Novel, Queen's Road, is a character-led dystopian novel set on a quiet Somerset street in Bridgwater where an unexpected crisis begins to unfold: a story exploring community, resilience, humour and hope.
There will be readings, chat and discussion around the book, a give-away and an opportunity to buy signed copies.

Places are FREE but need to be booked via the QR Code on the poster or email [email protected].

🥳Hooray! Rhyme-time with Stay & Play returns to Bridgwater Library, Binford Place from Thursday 2 July! 🥳
Join us for our FREE weekly Rhyme-time & Stay-and-Play sessions for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers! These drop-in sessions are on Thursdays from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Enjoy staff-led rhymes and songs and, if you like, stay to chat with other parents and carers while children enjoy playing with a selection of toys.
NB: Termtimes only and staffing-permitted. Children remain the responsibility of their parent/carer throughout

Morning All - just thought we’d pop on to remind our FB followers that our temporary location is now closed whilst we pack up in preparation to move back to our lovely Carnegie Library at Binford Place to re-open on 29th June. Nathan has given details of alternative nearest library locations / website / Customer Contact Centre.

A very enjoyable afternoon was had at our latest author event at . Steve Richards updated us on the latest books in his crime thriller LukeSackville series and with pertinent questions from Steve and the audience we found out about Brian's 'Fatal' series featuring DCI Mel Cotton. Thanks to the Arts centre for hosting, the audience for their support and and for a great event celebrating Crime Reading Month 😊
