Blue Watch have had a great day at Bridgwater Play Day! 🚒

A huge thank you to everyone who came over to say hello, have a look around the fire engine and meet the crew. It was great to see so many smiling faces!

Crews have been busy since our last post:

Property fire, Puriton, Bridgwater.
Fire out on arrival as owners had purchased their own fire blanket and used it in the appropriate manner it was intended 👏🏽 this severely reduced the risk of fire spread and damage, well done to them.

Busy day today for White watch, Red watch and the Oncall with a couple of protracted incidents in this hot weather!

Muchelney, Langport
Bridgwater Oncall out on the water CARRIER supporting Martock, Somerton and Yeovil Oncall.

2 fields, 1 x hedgerow and several round bales of hay were on fire.
3 Fire appliances and 1 x water CARRIER in attendance.
Crews used 4 x hose reel jets, 2 x main jets to extinguish the fire.

2 x fire appliances attended as reliefs as well.

**INFORMATION NOTICE**

We are currently dealing with a fire at Henlade, near Taunton, which is producing a large amount of smoke. This is expected to continue for several hours. Residents and businesses in the vicinity are advised to keep windows and doors closed for the rest of the day to protect from the fumes.

Crews of Bridgwater fire station have been busy this week, whether it be across borders with other Fire Services or working together with other stations locally!

Here's a few snap shots of the various incidents the crews have attended in the blistering heatwave so far.

4 x fiire appliances and 1 x water CARRIER were in attendance at the fire in the area Henlade, Taunton just off the A358

The fire involved over 200 tonnes of wood and woodchippings plus portacabins, generating a lot of smoke in the area. It's recommended that residents in the area keep their windows and doors closed for the remainder of the day - Thirsday16th July 2026.

Crews got to work extinguishing the fire with:
6 x hose reel jets
3 x main jets consisting of 51mm and 70mm hose
1 x light portable pump (LPP)
1 x water dam
3 x Thermal image cameras (TICS)

Fire crews worked tirelessly with onsite staff to minimise the spread of fire and remove any unaffected wood chipping to a safer location.

At the time of writing this is still an ongoing incident with 2 x fire appliances in attendance and they had asked for the water CARRIER at scene this morning for water supply.
