☀️ With hot weather staying with us and many parts of the UK in heatwave conditions, spare a thought for our firefighters and help reduce unnecessary callouts.
Hot, dry conditions mean it only takes one small spark to start a fire that can spread rapidly through gardens, parks and the countryside, putting people, homes and wildlife at risk.
Here are our top safety tips:
🚫Avoid BBQs and campfires on dry grass and keep them away from shrubs, fences and garden furniture
🔥 Please don't have garden bonfires during the current hot, dry conditions
🧺 If you're heading out, pack a picnic instead of using a disposable BBQ
♻Take your litter home - items like bottles and food packets can increase a fire starting by reflecting the sunlight
🚭 Make sure ci******es and smoking materials are fully extinguished and disposed of safely
🏊 If you're planning to cool off, choose safer options such as local pools or lidos – open water is often much colder and more dangerous than it appears
Let’s all do our bit to keep everyone safe 🚒
