KCSIE 2026 has been published, with the new statutory guidance coming into force on 1 September 2026.

From all staff reading Part One in full to updates on mobile phones, online harm, safeguarding records and volunteer checks, there is plenty for schools and education professionals to be aware of.

Our latest guide highlights 10 key changes, including:
• Part One reading expectations for all staff
• Mobile phone-free guidance
• Online harm, deepfakes and sextortion
• Misogyny and escalation risks
• Mental health warning signs
• Gender-questioning children
• Volunteer checks
• Family Help and joined-up support
• Stronger safeguarding records

It also flags wider updates around Operation Encompass, filtering and monitoring, cyber security and child protection files.

As part of our annual safeguarding training completed today, we have been reflecting on the new Department for Education guidance which has come into force from 1st September.

To help keep our whole school community safe, calm and focused, we are introducing a Mobile Free Site. We kindly ask parents, carers and visitors to put phones and other devices away once they enter the school grounds. Please remember that photos or videos should not be taken anywhere on the school site.

Year 5 and 6 pupils must have parental permission (see class story posts on Class Dojo) to bring mobile phones into school and these must be handed to staff for safe storage throughout the day.

These are important safeguarding measures that help us protect the privacy, safety and wellbeing of all of our children, families, staff and visitors.

Thank you for working with us and supporting this important step. Together, we can continue to create a safe and respectful environment where every child can learn, grow and thrive.

AI chatbots are increasingly part of children’s digital lives, with tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini and My AI being used for questions, ideas, homework support and content generation.

While these tools can create opportunities for learning and creativity, they also introduce important safeguarding, wellbeing and learning considerations.

We are looking forward to welcoming our new Year 7 pupils into school for their transition days, tomorrow and Friday.

A reminder to attend wearing your primary school uniform but this can be PE kit due to the current warm weather, bring a water bottle and apply suncream before school. You should also bring your trainers if you choose to come in school uniform.

The majority of pupils will be travelling to school using the mode of transport they will in September and everyone has already received information about this. For those on the bus, there will be staff and prefects on all the routes to offer support.

Those that are walking or being brought in the car should arrive at our Wrawby Road site from 8.30am, registration is from 8.45am. Collection or leaving on foot at the end of the day is at 3.25pm again from Wrawby Road. Please kindly park outside the school grounds to maintain access for the school buses.

Pupils should also bring a packed lunch or £2.70 in cash for a school lunch.

The children are thoroughly enjoying their OPAL journey at Brigg Primary School! 👏 📸

Each day, a range of exciting play opportunities are available across our school grounds, allowing children to explore, create, collaborate, be continuously active and have fun in ways that interest them most. 🙌🏻

It has been fantastic to see the children developing their confidence, creativity, resilience and teamwork skills through meaningful play experiences, while making lasting memories with their friends. 🌟

We can’t wait to continue developing our school grounds and OPAL provision for our children! 🌳
