Brighouse High School

Brighouse High School Brighouse High School is a larger than average comprehensive school with 1365 pupils including approximately 325 in the 6th form.

The school operates on a split site with 11-16 year olds being based on the Finkil Street site and 6th formers on a separate site in the heart of Brighouse. Our learners come from four main feeder primary schools and the wider community of Brighouse and East Calderdale. An increasing number of students come to our 6th form from neighbouring schools in Calderdale and Kirklees. We are proud that our 'togetherness' as a school and a community is often recognised.

We are looking forward to welcoming our students back for the start of a new academic year! 🌟

📅 Thursday 3rd September – Year 12 Induction
Our new Year 12 students will begin their Sixth Form journey with their Induction Day, giving them the opportunity to get settled, meet staff and students, and prepare for the year ahead. 💜

📚 Friday 4th September – Lessons Begin
Both Year 12 and Year 13 students will begin their lessons, following their individual timetables.

A particularly warm welcome to our new Year 12 students joining Brighouse Sixth Form College. We are delighted to have you as part of our community and can't wait to see you get started! 🎉

Starting secondary school means becoming a little more independent. One of the best habits you can develop is learning to set your own alarm and get yourself ready for the day.

✅ Set your alarm before bed
✅ Leave enough time for breakfast
✅ Get your school bag ready the night before
✅ Take responsibility for getting up on time

We’re looking forward to seeing our students back at Brighouse High School in their full school uniform as we start the new academic year! 💜

A quick reminder to families to check that school footwear meets our uniform expectations before students return.

👞 School shoes should be:
✔️ Plain
✔️ Low heels
✔️ Solid black in colour
✔️ Leather or leather-look
✔️ Free from logos, writing or lettering

🚫 The following are not appropriate:
• Trainers, pumps or other footwear with logos/writing/lettering
• High heels
• Backless shoes or sandals
• Boots
• Canvas or fabric footwear

A huge congratulations to Oliver Goddard on his outstanding A Level results! 🎉👏

Oliver achieved an incredible A*, A, A, A in Further Maths, Maths, Chemistry & Physics – a fantastic achievement that reflects his hard work, dedication and commitment throughout his time at Brighouse Sixth Form. 📚⭐

Oliver has decided to take a gap year while he considers his options for the future. He is currently exploring the possibility of studyinga Degree in Theoretical Physics or pursuing a Degree Apprenticeship.

Whatever path Oliver chooses, we are sure he has a very bright future ahead! 🌟

A huge congratulations to Libby, Aoife and Brooke on their fantastic results! 🎉👏

We are incredibly proud to celebrate their achievements and the exciting next steps they have secured.

⭐ Libby achieved an outstanding A – A – Distinction* in Criminology, Psychology & Health & Social Care and will be going on to study Operating Theatre/Department Practice at the University of Huddersfield.

🎓 Aoife and Brooke have also achieved fantastic results and have secured apprenticeships as they take their next steps into the world of work.

Their success is a brilliant example of the hard work, determination and commitment shown by our Sixth Form students. We wish all three of them every success for the future! 💜
