The Final Week of Lifeguard Service on Brighton & Hove Beaches 🏖️

As we head into the final week of the lifeguard season, please remember to stay safe when visiting the beach:

✅ Swim at a lifeguarded beach
✅ Swim between the red and yellow flags
✅ Check the tide times before heading out
✅ Never use inflatables in offshore winds
✅ Speak to lifeguards for local advice and safety information
✅ If you see someone in difficulty, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard☎️

The lifeguards are here to help keep everyone safe, so make the most of their presence while they're on patrol. The last day for the lifeguards will be Sunday 6th September.

This weekend is set to be a stormy one, which means any litter left on the beach is much more likely to be blown into the sea, impacting both our coastal and marine environment.

Re-posting until the message breaks through…

We know most people reading this wouldn’t dream of leaving litter on the beach, but with around 80% of marine litter originating from land-based activities and sources, we thought we’d share a little reminder ahead of a busy weekend:- please bin your rubbish, and if the bin is full, either find one with space or take your rubbish home. 🫡💙

If you’re beach cleaning, or over the weekend - YOU ARE AMAZING! Tag us in to a photo of what you collect and we’ll celebrate your amazing work!

Please stay posted to Brighton & Hove Seafront Team safety notices and stay well back from the water’s edge.

Wishing you all a safe and fantastic weekend! And if the wind and rain aren’t too horrendous, we look forward to seeing you on the beach on Sunday for our Leave No Trace Brighton X Sea Lanes Brighton community clean! 09:30-11:30am on the beach behind Sea Lanes! 🙌

YES BRIGHTON! 🙌 ☀️

Our Brighton Beach Patrol team will be out on the seafront tonight, carrying out our usual patrols, keeping the shoreline safe and looking out for anyone who may be vulnerable or in need of assistance.

Please take extra care around the sea tonight.

With large gusts and bigger swells expected, conditions around the water’s edge could become dangerous very quickly.

Please keep well back from the water’s edge and avoid getting too close to the waves, look out for friends and anyone who may be vulnerable, Do not enter the sea, especially after drinking and after dark.

Our volunteers will be around throughout the night, so if you see us and need help, please come and speak to us.

Stay safe on the seafront tonight!

🌈 Come celebrate PRIDE. But don't let the sea catch you out! 🌊

Offshore winds can quickly carry inflatables, paddleboards and swimmers further from the shore than you realise. If the wind is blowing out to sea, think twice before heading into the water.

Remember:
💨 Be aware of offshore winds.
🍺 Never swim after drinking alcohol or taking drugs.
🏖️ Swim at a lifeguarded beach whenever possible.
📞 If you see someone in trouble in the water, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Have fun, celebrate responsibly, and help keep Pride safe for everyone.

🌈 Happy Pride from everyone at Brighton & Hove Seafront! ❤️

🌈 Pride is all about celebrating, but let’s keep it safe too! 🌊

Brighton and Hove's beaches are much steeper than they look, which means the sea can become deep very quickly. Even if you’re a confident swimmer, always take extra care when entering the water.

🏖️ Swim at a lifeguarded beach.
📍 Use a lifeguard tower as a meeting point in case you get separated from your friends.
👀 Keep an eye on each other and look out for those around you.
🌊 Take care when entering the water, the sea is still very cold.
🍻 Alcohol, drugs and the sea don't mix.

Let’s make this Pride weekend one to remember for all the right reasons. Stay safe, have fun, and look after one another.

🌈 Happy Pride from everyone at the Seafront Team! ❤️
