Contemporary art in the heart of Brighton. Fabrica is a space that offers Fabrica is Brighton's Centre for Contemporary Art.

Set up in 1996 as a place for artists to make work and introduce new audiences to contemporary art and creative participation, Fabrica is situated in the former Holy Trinity Church in the heart of the South Lanes. Alongside commissioning three site specific installations per year, Fabrica produces a year round engagement programme including talks, workshops, events and film screenings. Each exhibition also welcomes the Friday Lates pop up cocktail bar serving drinks, music and entertainment immersed amongst the artworks. Fabrica's film programme showcases diverse and alternative films and is unparalleled in Brighton.The gallery also hosts the Artist Resource+, providing mentoring, advice and development opportunities to artists. Beyond the Gallery, Fabrica works with over 20 community groups to provide activities to those facing barriers to the arts due to health, age, income and circumstance.Our beautiful Regency Church provides the starting point for our heritage projects and events, and is available for hire for weddings, parties, corporate events and conferences. 📣 LAST CHANCE TO APPLY: In Between Gallery Open Call 📸

Calling early to mid-career photographers! There’s still time to get your work in front of thousands of people in the heart of Brighton.

Now in its nineth year, Fabrica’s In Between Gallery invites UK-based photographers to submit work for our large-format picture window on Duke Street, with the selected image exhibited from November 2026 to April 2027.

✨ No set theme
✨ No application fee
✨ £350 artist fee

The selected artist will also be featured in promotional materials, take over our Instagram and present their work at Fabrica’s Photography Networking Event in February 2027.

We’re partnering with Spectrum Photographic, Photo Fringe Jane & Jeremy and POST Creatives to bring exciting photographic work to this unique public space.

🥕🐰 A Halloween adventure with Wallace & Gromit!

Join us at Fabrica this October half term for Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (U), the hilarious Aardman classic where a mysterious vegetarian monster threatens the annual vegetable-growing competition. Can Wallace and Gromit save the day?

🦴 WORKSHOP: It’s Alive! Get creative with stop-motion animation as you make your own skeletons and plasticine creatures, inspired by the Aardman animators.

Two events. Two unexpected ways to draw.

This November, we're delighted to be hosting two creative drawing experiences at Fabrica, inviting you to put pencil to paper and respond to film and live music in unexpected ways.

Draw to Live Music with Duality - experiment with drawing in response to live music, rhythm and sound.

Draw to Film with Brighton Cinecity - explore drawing inspired by the surreal animations of the Quay Brothers.

No experience needed - just bring your curiosity and see where it takes you!

Five films exploring the stories, sounds and subcultures of UK migrant communities - Programmed alongside our autumn exhibition: One Song by Kadir Karababa.

Set over one day in London, Last Swim follows a group of Iranian-British teenagers as they spend their final day together before their lives begin to change. A tender coming-of-age story about friendship, uncertainty, identity and the future.

📢 EXHIBITION NOW OPEN: One Song by Kadir Karababa

One Song is an audio-visual installation and community archive bringing together songs and stories shared by women with personal experience of migration or seeking sanctuary.

The exhibition runs from 9–28 October, and is accompanied by a programme of live music and film events, including performances with Brighton Early Music Festival and five BFI Amplified screenings.

Five films exploring the stories, sounds and subcultures of UK migrant communities - Programmed alongside our autumn exhibition: One Song by Kadir Karababa.

Set on a remote Scottish island, Limbo follows a group of asylum seekers waiting for news about their futures. The screening will be accompanied by a live oud performance from Alaa Wehbi, connecting the film's themes of migration and belonging with the sounds of the Middle East.

BREMF WORKSHOP: Family Singing with Hannah Ely | Saturday 24 October | 10.30–11.30am | £5 per family

Part of the One Song / BREMF programme. This October, Fabrica presents One Song, an exhibition and community archive by artist Kadir Karababa. A programme of accompanying events brings the work to life through music, conversation and shared experiences. This workshop is presented in partnership with Brighton Early Music Festival

Bring your primary-aged children or grandchildren along for a fun, interactive singing workshop led by festival co-artistic director Hannah Ely.

Sing songs about home, sleep and dreamworlds in this relaxed workshop for all the family. No previous singing experience needed – just come along and join in!
