It's 2026 and we kicked off this year's w**ding Sundays with clearing the whole of Semley Street.

Was a fantastic effort from four of the team... Looking forward to a productive spring and summer with great company and smiles.

If you can spare a little time on a Sunday morning and are in the five way area you are more than welcome to join us. Out focus is on Edburton and Southdown Avenues, Semley, st Andrew's and Grantham Roads.

We like a chat and you only need to do what you are comfortable.. some hoeing or sweeping the removed w**ds or simply holding the bag (there's always some wind)...

See you soon

We had a beautiful day in the sun on Sunday distributing our group leaflets to invite more of our neighbours to join the group.
Especially now that the council has introduced an opt out scheme which is great news!
Please share this with your friends and neighbours that live or know someone who does live in the street below.
We can only cover these at the moment though with a stronger contingency and enough interest from other streets more groups can be formed so we can cover a wider area. We can happily advise on what is needed. Drop us a line.

The roads we cover are: *Southdown Avenue
*Rugby Road
*Grantham Road
*St.Andrew's Road
*Semley Road
*Edburton Avenue
*Ditchling Road-west side from Rugby to Semley

As residents we oppose the use of pesticides on our streets. We must be doing more for wildlife and whilst some level of w**d control is necessary for better accessibility, the majority of plants on our pavements are a very welcome addition to our neighbourhood. We stand with the other 49 local organisations calling for Brighton & Hove City Council to end the use of w**dkiller on our streets and pavements." Cllr Tim Rowkins Cllr Bella Sankey

50 civil society organisations have come together to call on Brighton & Hove Council to return the city to being pesticide-free in 2025.

Thank you to all who participated and contributed to today's fabulous PR activities on the Florence Market. It was really fun and we talked to quite a few people and shared our pamphlets.

Other initiates were discussed: linking to other initiatives in the community who have similar charters, leaving pamphlets at public noticeboards in the community, doing another no-pesticides petition for council as we're approaching the 6 mths- mark since we first did it, more talk about influencing in other ways and our realisation that community awareness of pesticide use and harm is low is certain demographic groups (elderly).

To me, today again clarified, how really it all comes down to 1 single shift:

🌱 Clear w**d, w/ a little garden tool, from the sidewalk & gutter in front of your home.

πŸ’š 1 simple act. Free. 10 min/wk.
An act of kindness, if you do your neighbour's stretch too.

πŸ₯¬ Keeping your pets, your family, your veggy patch and the environment save, as no pesticide will be used on the street, if there is no w**d!

πŸ€ Bonus: Community building, if you join forces with our group and clear w**ds together as a team.
