The Clock Tower Sanctuary

The Clock Tower Sanctuary The Clock Tower Sanctuary is the only drop-in day centre in Brighton & Hove for young people aged 16-25 experiencing homelessness. Thank you for your support.

It's our mission to work with young people experiencing homelessness to help them to move from crisis to stability. The Clock Tower Sanctuary is a day centre providing information and guidance for 16-25 year olds experiencing homelessness. We are open 5 days per week providing a friendly, bright, centrally-located, safe space for young people to engage with their peers and other visiting agencies.

We provide Crisis Support to help young people with their immediate, essential needs, including food, showers and medical support. Our Move-On Support enables young people to unlock their potential and make positive, lasting change. It includes Life Skills courses, 121 support and interactive activities, such as our weekly Men’s & Women's Group. The average life expectancy for a male rough sleeper is 47 years old - 43 for women. We aim to do everything we can to prevent our young people from becoming part of that statistic. If you would like to volunteer, make a donation or do some fundraising then please check out our website.

We’re here for you if you’re 16 - 25 years old and experiencing homelessness. We offer support for young people who are rough sleeping, sofa surfing, or insecurely housed. We provide hot meals, food parcels, showers, laundry, clothing, groups and activities, 1-2-1 casework, and more - all for free. Our day centre is a safe, friendly place where you can just be yourself without judgement or pressure. Drop in and say hello if you would like support - we’re open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:30am to 1:30pm. Our client entrance to the day centre is on Ship Street - we’re in a little alleyway right next to the Trading Post cafe (look for the Clock Tower Sanctuary sign on the street) 💙

We’re celebrating and in many ways, one of which is our Courage Tree. Here's what some of the young people we’re currently supporting shared when asked, “What brings you courage?” This week and every week, we stand with refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants both around the world and here in the UK, and we are proud to provide services, support, and a safe space for many of these young people. We see you, stand with you, and celebrate you 💙

'Hike for the Clock Tower Sanctuary' returns Saturday 11th July, offering a breathtaking half-marathon hike to raise both awareness and funds that will make a massive difference in the lives of 16 to 25 year olds facing homelessness.

In Brighton & Hove, we see homelessness every day, but many of us don’t know how we can individually make a difference. By taking part and raising funds, you can help us keep our doors open for young people like Martin who depend on our support, services, and safe space.

"When I come here, I have my caseworker to talk to, I have the staff and volunteers to talk to… if I’m feeling down, everyone’s open to listen, and I just really appreciate it. It’s been really nice coming here, and I hope it never shuts down, and I hope when I move on from here, I can come back and start helping out others – that’s my main goal." - Martin, 20 (he/him)

When young people experiencing homelessness arrive here, they are often in a state of distress. We meet their immediate needs by providing a freshly-cooked and healthy hot meal, clean clothes, a hot shower, and a compassionate conversation. We know that homelessness can be a very isolating experience, so we offer a friendly face and listening ear.

Thanks to your continued support, last year we provided more than 1,500 showers, and our 40+ volunteers cooked nearly 5,000 hot lunches for young people experiencing homelessness in Brighton & Hove. Thank you for ensuring that young 16- to 25-year-olds have the support, services, and safe space they need to move from crisis to stability 💙

"The Sanctuary is a like a family, there’s nowhere else like it. I’ve done fantastic activities and have really picked myself up. The food provided is also lifesaving. There were days when I didn’t have much of it while running out of money, but I knew I could come here to eat, take care of myself and others, and feel better." Ivan, 23 (he/him)

Your support means that young people who are homeless can eat a free hot meal, 5 days a week, right here at CTS. Click below to find this month's and donate the food, clothing, and toiletry items that would make the biggest difference in a young person's life today 💙
