Woodcroft Community Orchard

Woodcroft Community Orchard We have planted over 50 trees; Apple, Pear, Plum, Damson, Gage, Mulberry, Quince, cherry and a range of soft fruits.

The site behind Woodcroft road, now has more than 50 fruit trees and numerous soft fruit bushes plus a thriving kitchen garden

The project is on behalf of the local community (and wildlife) and is an independent and self governed grass roots project. We are a community run and led project, the orchard itself is on land at Woodcroft Road Allotments A project to bring people together and share th

e journey to create and maintain and orchard. The project is on behalf of the local community (and wildlife) and is an independent and self governed grass roots project. Find us down the lane on the corner of Birchwood & Woodcroft roads BS4 4QW. There's no parking but there are side streets so please park sensibly considering neighbours at all times. You can also access the site via the path from Nightingale Valley. Why not have a nice walk along Brislington Brook first! We have a map to find us here https://woodcroftcommunityorchard.wordpress.com/contact/

People who have an interest should feel free to be involved in any way they like. The orchard is yours, as local residents you can decide its future. The concept is simple, the site will be run and managed for the benefit of all, with people getting involved in as much or as little as they please.

Thank you so much to Team PKF Francis Clark Bristol who put in an amazing shift yesterday

Trees and fruit bushes weeded and mulched

Kitchen garden planted out (including sweating in the polytunnel and creating beautiful bean teepees)

Cuttings proceeded for chipping

Brambles bashed

And a long lost trailer freed from brambles and emptied of all sorts - if you know a scrap metal man, let us know!

Just a selection of the delicious meals members have whipped up from the spring greens we harvested from the polytunnel yesterday.

We're a community in many ways, including recipe swaps and creative solutions to using up seasonal harvest gluts!

Next open day Sunday 7th June. Everyone welcome to find out more of what we're about from 11am. No dogs please.

Managed to set up a base for our rainwater tanks, create new compost bays, move the woodchip to where it’s needed, give the Quince some feed, spay and a mega mulch, tidy up the compost area and chopped all the wood ready for the chipper… and install a new water butt!

Absolutely incredible! Thank you!!!
