⚠️ An amber heat-health alert is in place for our area from Wednesday 8 July until Sunday 12 July.

This means there is an increased risk to health from the heat for everyone, particularly vulnerable people, including babies and young children, older adults, and people with long-term health conditions.

Please follow the health advice to stay safe during the hot weather. In particular, check on vulnerable friends, neighbours, and relatives who may need extra support.

Stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day where possible, keep hydrated, and look out for others.

Our hospitals are under exceptional pressure at the moment. If you think you need A&E but it’s not a genuine medical emergency, please contact NHS 111 first.

You’ll be directed to the best service for your needs and avoid a lengthy wait at A&E while hospital staff attend to the most seriously ill patients first.

If you attend our Emergency Department with a health condition that isn't urgent, you may experience a long wait.

If your loved one is already in hospital, you can help get them home sooner by speaking to ward staff as early as possible about the discharge process.

Join us for our Annual Meeting and Health Fair 2026! ❤

We’re bringing together our NHS services, partners and local communities for an evening focused on health, wellbeing and the future of care.

Taking place at The Memorial Stadium, home of Bristol Rovers, the event begins with a Health Fair where you can take part in health checks, including getting your blood pressure and cholesterol checked, meet local teams, and learn more about cutting edge services such as the 3D Medical Centre.

This will be followed by our Annual Meeting, where we will reflect on the past year and share our priorities for the future. The meeting includes a spotlight on robotic surgery and our partnership with Bristol Rovers Community Trust, showcasing how collaboration is helping us transform care.

We’re really pleased to share that the merger between NBT and University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has now been approved by NHS England, the Secretary of State, our Group Board and Council of Governors.

From Wednesday 1 July, we’ll come together as Bristol NHS Foundation Trust 💙

This brings together 28,000 colleagues across more than 160 clinical specialties, working across 13 hospital sites — creating one of the largest acute NHS trusts in the UK. This new Trust has been shaped by our patients, our communities and our clinical teams, and will help us better serve the people who rely on us now and in the future.

There will be some changes to our website and social media channels as part of this transition. However, our services will not be affected - please continue to attend any appointments as planned, unless you are contacted directly.

Anyone can become unwell when the weather is hot, but some are at higher risk than others.

Look out for older people, people with long-term health conditions and young children who may find it more difficult to stay cool and hydrated in hot weather.
