Just a reminder that we do not permit BBQs or open fires on our green spaces (Newman's Field and Westerleigh Playing Field.) This is especially important this summer.

Thank you.

Across Bristol, we still have very dry grass due to the prolonged period of hot weather. 🔥 Even a small spark can quickly start a grass fire, destroying green space, wildlife habitats, and natural ecosystems, and leaving lasting damage to the environment.

❌ Please DO NOT use any BBQs if you visit local parks or green spaces as the dry grass is still highly vulnerable to fire.

Thank you for your continued help in protecting our communities, parks and wildlife đź’š

Message from South Gloucestershire Council:

Road closures starting today - Westerleigh Rd, Yate from the Road to Nowhere Roundabout to the mini roundabout by the viaduct.

We're making it safer and easier to walk, cycle and wheel between Yate, Westerleigh and nearby communities, with wider pavements, new crossings and improved active travel links.

Phase 1 works will take place between the Rodford Way/Road to Nowhere roundabout, along Westerleigh Road and part of Shire Way to the mini-roundabout near the viaduct.

Traffic management
• overnight full road closures (both directions), 27 July to 3 August and 24 to 31 August, 8pm to 6am
• northbound carriageway closed 24/7 from 27 July to 20 December, diversion as shown on the map, southbound traffic unaffected

Resident access
• access to all side streets and properties maintained
• residents of Chedworth and Rodborough must use the southbound carriageway of Shire Way to access and exit their properties
• the mini-roundabout remains open, but there will be no northbound access towards the Rodford Way roundabout

Bus services
• northbound services will be diverted; southbound services will operate as normal

Thank you for your patience while we deliver these improvements. Details of Phase 2 will be shared later.
