Labour letting our children down.

In 2018, Bristol parents took Bristol City Council to court for unlawful cuts to the education funding for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. They won.

Deputy Mayor with responsibility for Finance, Councillor Craig Cheney said: “We are disappointed by the court’s decision and will carefully consider the detail of the judgement and what implications it has before making a decision about what to do next.'

In 2019, Ofsted and the CQC stated in their joint Send inspection of Bristol that there were 'significant' concerns regarding the effectiveness of the local area. Top of the list was a lack of accountability of leaders at all levels.

Bell Close Garages in Manor Farm are being demolished and HMO's built without the proper consultation that was promised. Of course more housing is needed, but shoe-horning people into unsuitable spaces is not the solution. Please sign this petition calling for proper consultation with the local Community.

The garages have been cleared and are due to be demolished on the 26th April. Residents have told Tracey O'Reilly and Mike O'Shea that they are very concerned. Already fly tipping is becoming a MAJOR issue.

The Council promised a consultation. Have you noticed letters are from Housing Delivery? It sounds like the decision has been made. It is likely Houses of Multiple Occupancy (one room and shared facilities for more than three people) will be built. Many residents have said family homes would be better. Planning has not been submitted - we believe the planning application will only be made AFTER the election.

Manor Farm residents’ views matter, but – yet again, YOU have not been consulted! You have told us parking for the Hospital, or allotments would be good. What do you think?

POLL - we will shortly be putting up a poll to find out what you would like to see Bell Close garages become.

It is nearly here... A fantastic challenge to discover and document the wildlife on our doorstep. An epic scientific project that we can all contribute too... and huge fun the children.
Don't forget to download the iNaturalist App before Friday, then snap and share the wonderful things around us.

City Nature Challenge 2021 is coming and you don’t want to miss it!

Between 30 April and 3 May you can take part in this global initiative to collect information about the wildlife flourishing in our urban areas.

It’s easy: you just need the iNaturalist App
It’s quick: you upload your photos
It’s important: citizen science can be used to inform wildlife conservation decisions

More than 400 cities around the world will be competing during the four-day challenge to see which will collect the most information about the trees, plants and wildlife in their cities.

Whether you are an expert, a seasoned City Nature challenge participant or getting involved for the first time, it couldn’t be easier to join in. You don’t even have to know anything about the species you are observing. Teams of experts will be reviewing and updating the information that’s submitted, so you can log back in later and learn more about what you’ve spotted.

Residents of Highbury Road Horfield Bristol Community Support - afternoon all: just to let all parents know who are thinking of taking their kids to play on the common today - please be aware that we did a litter pick this morning and there's a lot of dog p**p on the common. We cleaned up lots of it but there might be some that we've missed. Thanks

A huge thank you to everyone who turned out this morning to do an impromptu litter pick now that the travellers have moved on. We filled so many bags of waste that the bins that the council supplied are almost overflowing.

This morning I played Dan-Dan man (its the most disgusting job, Google it!) The travellers had tied their dogs up to the wire fencing that surrounds the children's play area - so it was covered in dog p**p (there and in general on the common). Spent an hour trying to scrape dried in dog-p**p off the grass - got ssssooooo much of it on my fingers! (puke!) Just spent the last 20 mins scrubbing them clean. 😟

Parents: please be aware over the next few days if you're allowing your kids to play on the common - we tried to pick up as much dog p**p as we could, but some of it might not be visible as the grass has been flattened/driven over by vehicles.

Huge shout out to me neighbours in Bayswater Road (you are so wonderful!) and to everyone who turned up to help. Some of the things you picked up were amazing yet grim!
