What happens when doing what's best for one person ends up harming everyone?

In this thought-provoking short video, Dr Leo explores Thomas Aquinas' idea of the common good through a simple example: a shared village pasture. Adding one extra cow benefits an individual farmer, but what happens when everyone makes the same choice?

The discussion quickly moves from medieval philosophy to some of the biggest questions facing society today, including climate change, shared resources and the role of ethics in decision-making.

It's a fascinating reminder that philosophy isn't just about abstract ideas. It's about understanding the choices we make, the values we hold and the kind of world we want to create together.

Watch the video and let us know your thoughts. Does the common good sometimes require us to limit our own interests?
