Artist, Jane Warring, installing her new exhibition at Bristol Central Library. Exhibition opens Monday 1 June!

The Lost Places of Bristol exhibition will include a selection of 19th Century illustrations by Samuel Loxton chosen from the Central Library collection showing places and buildings that no longer exist in Bristol, their loss due to things such as war damage, planning decisions, fire, or a changing culture. The original Loxton illustrations will be displayed alongside newspaper cuttings and ephemera also from the Central Library collections. Some of the lost views will be contrasted with photographs, taken by artist and MA Fine Art student Jane Warring, of the same locations today. The Loxton illustrations will be digitally combined by the artist with the photographic images to create a collage and produced using the 19th Century Cyanotype process to make a series of 21st Century original prints. These will be displayed alongside the original Loxtons as a reflection of the changing urban environment in Bristol over the past 150 years.

We had a fab Dinosaur Storytime at Stockwood Library last week.
Our library dinosaur stomped, 🦶 chomped, 🦷 swished its tail, and helped us all “Do the Dinosaur!” 🦕🎶
After our stories and songs, everyone got creative with a fun dinosaur craft🎨 and were gifted a book '1, 2, 3 Dinosaur' from the BookTrust 📖

As our city changes, so must our . Which is why we are writing a new 5-year plan! Got a great idea for Bristol's ? Let us know via this survey https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/LibraryStrategy/ 📚

We’re not planning to reduce funding for libraries, this new plan is about what they could do differently within the they have.

Whether you’re a regular library user, someone who hasn’t visited in years, or you’ve never stepped inside one at all, your views matter.

This survey will close at midnight on Monday 22 June 2026.
