It is with great sadness that Bro David 'Monster' Creech passed away this week, peacefully after a short illness.
Firstly our thoughts are with Dave's family and loving partner Lynne.
Monster was on Green at Speedwell when I joined in '91, and he, along with some other amazing characters played the largest part in not only making me a better FF, but also a better person.
We refer to our fellow comrades as brother and sister, and being part of the FBU family is something that Monster felt passionately about... unity, fairness and equality ran in his veins before it had a title!
He fought against bullying and injustice at all levels, standing up for others no matter who it was against, which sadly in most cases back in the day was FF against officer!
Monster was also passionate about HS&W, passing numerous qualifications to help our cause, he would frequently win cases with the service resulting in better conditions for members, much of which we still have have today.
After working with him, and having the joy of listening to past tales, he absolutely lived life to the full... he played frequently for the service football team, and was a menace in so many ways when skittles was a big part of the brigade social life!
Following retirement, Monster continued to help others by volunteering on a boat for the disabled to ensure they had access to enjoy a day out at sea down in Poole.
I hope others that worked with Monster, many for longer than I did, raise a glass for him in memory and think back with a smile, because I know that's what he would want...and if you didn't know him, I'm afraid you missed out...but know this, in some way he made your life as a FF better!
RIP brother, and thank you✊️
