Here's some great news from our Boost Your Future programme🚀!

Working with Partners in Bristol , we’ve been running a new programme for young people to gain their first CSCS cards and find pathways into the construction industry👷

Attendance has been high and all learners have been travelling across Bristol to learn the ins and outs of construction and health and safety essentials for site work. They’ve also been able to get hands-on experience in carpentry, plumbing and more!🪚🔧

We’re halfway through the programme and all learners are currently on track to gain their CSCS cards and be taking their next steps before July. Some are looking to specialise in apprenticeships, others will be starting full time work with local companies and city wide💫

Here’s some of the feedback from learners we’ve had so far:
🌟‘This is the best thing I’ve done – so much better set up than school’
🌟‘I’ve actually made friends here and don’t feel anxious about joining in at all’
🌟‘The tutors are calm and the support’s perfect for what I need’

We can’t wait to see what’s next for this inspiring group of young people!

✨💄Elisecia’s future gets a glow up thanks to the !💄✨

After 5 months out of work and education, Elisecia was struggling with her mental health and confidence, making job searching difficult and anxiety inducing.

Through meeting with her Career Coach, Elisecia found the support she needed - identifying skills to develop, discovering her passions, and setting her sights on the beauty industry🌟

After 4 weeks of employability training, Elisecia undertook two work tasters to gain real-world experience and get professional references🤝

The highlight was Elisecia’s work taster with Glow Up Studio. Here, Elisecia worked with other beauticians who mentored her, provided her with equipment, and trained her up to become a qualified Lash Technician – congratulations!🎉

Glow Up Studio’s Ashleigh was so impressed with Elisecia that she has offered her a space in the studio! This amazing opportunity means Elisecia can continue to get advice and build up her clients in a supportive environment💖

But she’s not stopping there! Elisecia has also signed up to the The King's Trust Enterprise Programme so that she can set up her own business!💼

📢Calling all VCSE Colleagues📢

You're invited to our VCSE NEET Reduction Planning Session!💭✏️

This session will be focussed on strengthening our approach to reducing the number of young people in Bristol who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).

We want to bring together VCSE organisations, partners, and leaders to build a coordinated plan for prevention, early intervention, and continued support for young people across the city.

Date🗓️: Wednesday 10th June 2026
Time⏰: 2pm - 5pm
Location 📌: Triodos Foundation Event Space, BS1 5BE

Why Your Input Matters💫:
The VCSE sector plays a critical role in prevention, early help, re‑engagement, and sustained transitions for young people. This session will ensure that your experience, local insight, and organisational strengths shape Bristol’s strategy for tackling NEET—together and proactively.

If you would like to attend, please complete this sign up form: https://forms.office.com/e/6ibRpZYGum

We would also really appreciate it if you could share this invite any VCSE colleagues who think this could be useful/of interest!

More great news from the !📢

In May, our participants teamed up with VIY to build a new outdoor education shelter at Heart of BS13's Flower Farm💐🪚

Over two weeks, our young people worked alongside VIY’s professional trade mentors to get real-world experience and bring the shelter together – from carrying out groundworks to constructing and raising the wooden structure🛖

Now, Heart of BS13 can offer more outdoor activities all year round🎉

But that’s not all, the participants also gained Health & Safety and Carpentry & Joinery qualifications – congrats! 👏

Sol, Flower Farm manager at Heart of BS13 had this to say about the project: “I was incredibly impressed with the achievement of the build, and also with how some of these young people gained opportunities and pathways into work and skills development.”

A huge thank you to the VIY team for the support and encouragement💚

🎨✨ Boost Your Future Mural Project ✨🎨

In April, we partnered with local artist RTiiiKA to work on an exciting project to transform a wall into a colourful mural designed and painted by our young people!🖌

Across three days, a small group of young people were invited to The Sandringham in Brislington and tasked with producing the mural.

RTiiiKA spent the first day designing the mural everyone – after group activities and a walk in the local environment, they settled on a British wildlife theme 🦊🐸🦇🐿️

On day two, the group began painting the mural using spray paints – working together on large sections and more detailed areas.

Day three involved working together to bring their final vision to life! 🖼️

The result? An amazing mural, a very happy landlady, curious regulars asking for more paintings… and most importantly, visible boosts in confidence for the young people involved 💛
