The weather looks good for the music on 15th August .
Kingswood Rugby club have an event on the same day so I suspect many of you will go to that
Please support us if you can. Future events will be determined by the support received for this year's events.
We are family friendly and free to attend 365 days of the year.

We are now live on Eventbrite for the last 2 batwalks of 2026. Should you have any questions email [email protected].
eg if you wanted 2 tickets and there was only one left on sale. We will help if we can

join us for an evening walk around Magpiebottom using bat detectors to spot, identify and learn about these flying mammals

Due to problems with the radar gate , the main gate will be opened for wheelchairs ,walkers ,push chairs etc for the saturday events as follows
sat 15th August 2pm till 5pm
sat 22nd August 10am till 1 pm.
The gate will be locked outside of these times to protect the reserve.
Plans are underway to completely replace the gates in september to restore full access to everyone. We are still fund raising for the notice board so until that is in situ all messages will be by facebook.

22nd NATURE EVENTS, including KIDS CRAFT TENT,BUG HUNTS,WALKS WITH STEVE ENGLAND.

I would like to thank Juliet for leading the Yoga yesterday.
We will be taking a break for a couple of weeks. Watch the page for possible dates in September. They will be weather dependent.

For those who cannot get to our bat walks on 5th sept and 3rd october there will be 2 bat walks led by Daisy in Kingswood Park
1st Sept at 7.45pm and 23rd Sept at 7.00pm.
These are free. meet at the main gate. Come to one of these 4 if you can .It is an experience not to be missed.
The plan is to hold several more bat walks in 2027 when the bats wake up from their hibernation

Thank you to all who attended the bat walk .There were only 3 no shows which was great.
Hopefully you enjoyed the evening.
Daisy ,our expert,is very knowledgeable and very enthusiastic Hopefully you will be tempted to attend more of our events.
For those who did not get a chance to attend the next bat walk in sept will go on Eventbrite this weekend.

We are trialing various events and intend to hold several next year. On the 15th and 22nd we will have a notebook at the event and we would like you to write in there any events you would like held at Magpie in 2027 and any comments on how to improve the ones we are already holding.

A Community Nature Reserve is where household sign up for their gardens or balconies to be included in a scheme to provide wildlife corridors and /or food and shelter for wildlife. You would share tips and ideas and we would map out the corridors
Kingswood has a group set up for this that you can sign up for.
Part of Magpie is Kingswood, part in Hanham and part in Bristol. If there is sufficient interest we can set up a similar scheme for the non kingswood parish residents.
There will be an event at Magpie on the morning of 22nd Aug,(details to follow tomorrow).
We will have Kelly AWT at this event to explain exactly what a Community Nature Reserve is and to talk about what you may find in your garden.
We will explain how you can sign up to the Kingswood project and guauge the interest from Hanham/Bristol residents in an edges of Magpiebottom project.
