Yellow warnings for thunderstorms have been issued for parts of England and Wales tomorrow and on Thursday, as warm and humid conditions bring an increasing chance of heavy showers, thunderstorms and longer spells of rain.

♻️ From the reuse shop to protecting our coastline! 🌊

We are working with Devon's Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) to help monitor and protect important seagrass habitats across our estuaries.

Through the HWRC Reuse Shop initiative, unwanted bodyboards have been given a new life. Instead of going to waste, they're now being used by survey teams working on inter-tidal mudflats, helping them move safely across soft mud, transport equipment and carry out vital monitoring work.

Seagrass beds are some of our most valuable marine habitats. They support biodiversity, improve water quality and help store carbon, making them an important part of a healthy coastal environment.

By giving discarded items a second life, this partnership is showing how reuse can support conservation and make a real difference for our environment.

📍Calne Odour Update: Our officers carried out 24 odour monitoring rounds between 3-17 Aug as part of our enhanced monitoring program. Hills is addressing recently identified emission points, and monitoring will continue.

Salisbury City Council Studio Response Our Wiltshire

🐟 Our electrofishing team has been hard at work rescuing fish from drying sections of the upper River Hems in South Devon.

Routine monitoring picked up fish in distress in pooled and ponded areas of the river. With no rain forecast, these sections were at serious risk of drying out completely, which would have been fatal for the fish trapped there.

The team successfully moved around 500 fish, including 150 trout, plus stone loach, minnow, bullheads, and eels, to healthier stretches downstream on the Hems and the Am Brook. Sites were carefully chosen to ensure good water flow and to avoid overcrowding any one area with trout.

Protecting wild fish populations during periods of drought is a key priority for us, and this rescue is a great example of our teams responding quickly to help wildlife under pressure.
