This page was started to encourage action about the closure of Cabot Tower. The creation of this page sparked media coverage across the city and following intervention by Bristol City Council and English Heritage, a £400,000 restoration programme was agreed. The tower re-opened during August 2011 after being closed to the public for 4 years.

VisitBristol's View from Cabot Tower - Bristol, England

23/03/2010

Good day all round. Thanks to Bristol City Council and English Heritage for getting things going, well done to JACK fm - Bristol, UK for reporting news of the grant being confirmed first plus all the other local media that have been involved. Congratulations to Clifton Suspension Bridge who has raised £1m to restore his stonework, and finally to everyone who joined - stay in touch :)

:)

The Council have nearly finished cleaning the graffiti. This campaign started on the 17th February, we've nearly hit 10,000 people and we've got results. Thumbs up!

YAY I've been cleaned

"...A specialist team will also be on site from Monday to remove the graffiti from the building, which appeared during the last week". They must be a specialist night team then. Oh, and check out my fancy new signs.

Morning Tower Fans, do you think Bristol City Council will stick to their word and clean the graffiti today?

27/02/2010

Newsflash - BCC have responded via the BBC, stating contractors are due to take a look on Monday. The vandalism has only just been 'noticed' and will be cleaned next week. BCC have committed £150,000 towards the project, but English Heritage will not confirm if they are putting up the rest. I am not going to be demolished, fall down, or be turned into a Starbucks. This is about securing funding from English Heritage.
