- To provide clients with easily accessible, high-quality 2D, 3D, 4D, and in selected clinics, HD images using ultrasound technology in a caring and professional manner.

- To enhance our customers' experience by providing a homely, welcoming, safe, and comfortable environment.
- To promote excellence in 2D, 3D, and 4D imaging services by ensuring accuracy, efficiency, compassion, and professional integrity. Our Values

We are committed to:

Focus: Our primary focus is on client care and comfort, delivered in a professional and ethical manner. Integrity: Ensuring all our clients are treated honestly, fairly, and safely. Privacy: Maintaining confidentiality for all our customers at all times. Diversity: Recognising, respecting, and actively supporting individual differences through our work practices and protocols. Safety: Meeting all health and safety obligations within our establishment. Staff: Ensuring all our sonographers meet high standards in specialising in well-being, gender, and 4D pregnancy scans. Ultrasound Scanning

Ultrasound uses very high-frequency sound waves, beyond the perception of the human ear, so your baby will not be aware of the scan. 3D and 4D ultrasound use the same technology as hospital 2D ultrasound scanning.

2D Ultrasound: Provides imaging in two dimensions, used for diagnostic examinations.
3D Ultrasound: Offers three-dimensional still images.
4D Ultrasound: Adds the fourth dimension, showing real-time movement of your baby in the womb. We are privileged to offer you and your family a unique and realistic first look at your baby with our 3D/4D ultrasound baby scans. Just as safe as traditional 2D scans, our 3D/4D/HD ultrasound scans, combined with our years of experience, trained team, and advanced equipment, let you get up close and personal with your unborn baby. From a yawn to a stretch, these sessions provide a realistic introduction to your baby in their protected world.

4D Ultrasound Fact Sheet

4D technology uses sound waves beyond human hearing, ensuring your baby is unaware of the scan. For clear imaging, a pool of amniotic fluid around the baby’s face is needed. The best 4D images are obtained when the baby is in a face-up position. Images can be affected by factors like the umbilical cord, hands, feet, or the baby's position against the womb or placenta. To improve image clarity, we may ask you to roll onto your side or take a walk to encourage the baby to move. Our policy is to do our best on the day, which sometimes means scans may overrun. Please be patient, as every client is important to us. Our clinic offers pregnancy scans at all gestations from 6 to 40 weeks, and all our sonographers are fully trained in clinical and diagnostic ultrasound. Every scan begins with a baby well-being check. If any potential issues are detected, we will explain them fully and communicate with your midwife with your permission. HD Ultrasound

HD ultrasound, available in selected clinics, uses the latest technology for high-definition imaging. Our Scanning Machines

Our ultrasound scanner is a powerful computer that interprets reflected high-frequency sound waves into 3D pictures and adds the fourth dimension to give real-time moving images. HD stands for High Definition. Safety

We prioritise the safety of you and your baby, adopting the A.L.A.R.A (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) protocol. This means our scanners are set at the lowest levels necessary to obtain great images. We also follow BMUS (British Medical Ultrasound Society) guidelines for non-diagnostic, bonding scans, and do not scan before 16 weeks. firstScan

first Scan offers private ultrasound and blood testing services across the UK, specialising in general health blood testing, general health scans and women's health scans. Offerings include advanced scans such as abdominal and pelvic ultrasounds, along with comprehensive blood tests for fertility, virology, thyroid function, and general health. Do I need a transvaginal (TV) scan?

In early pregnancy, a transvaginal scan is recommended by NICE guidelines because it provides much clearer and more detailed images than an abdominal scan.

A TV scan can:
✨ Detect a pregnancy earlier
👶 See the pregnancy sac, embryo, and heartbeat more clearly
🩺 Help rule out an ectopic pregnancy
💛 Provide important answers if you're experiencing pain, bleeding, or uncertainty

Can I decline a transvaginal scan?

Absolutely. While it's recommended for the best possible assessment in early pregnancy, it is always your choice. Our sonographers will explain everything and ensure you're comfortable before proceeding.

Will it hurt?

A transvaginal scan should not be painful. The slim ultrasound probe, which is covered with a protective sheath, is about the size of a finger or tampon. Most people find it only mildly uncomfortable, if at all.

At Window to the Womb, your comfort, dignity, and reassurance are our priority. We'll always take the time to answer your questions and support you throughout your appointment. 🤍

Could it be gallstones? 🟡

Gallstones are surprisingly common and don't always cause symptoms. However, when they do, they can lead to significant discomfort.

Common symptoms include:
✔️ Pain in the upper right side of your abdomen
✔️ Pain after eating, especially fatty foods
✔️ Pain that may spread to your back or right shoulder
✔️ Nausea or vomiting
✔️ Indigestion or bloating

If you're experiencing these symptoms, don't ignore them. An abdominal ultrasound is a quick, non-invasive way to help identify gallstones and provide valuable information for your healthcare provider.

Early assessment can help you get the answers you need and the right treatment sooner.

Book your abdominal ultrasound today:

Please note: If you experience severe abdominal pain, fever, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), or persistent vomiting, seek urgent medical attention.
