Life in the Armed Forces comes with so much to be proud of.

It also comes with plenty of uncertainty.

Whether you're serving, have left the Forces, or are supporting a loved one who serves, life doesn't always go to plan. Illness or injury can happen when you least expect it, and when it does, the last thing anyone needs is added financial pressure.

That's why Lady Grover is here.

For more than 100 years, we've been supporting the Armed Forces community, and today we're proud to be open to serving personnel, veterans and their families, offering financial support when it's needed most.

💜 We'd love to hear from you...
What's one thing the Armed Forces community has taught you about resilience?

💙 Member Story
After surgery, Josephine spent a week in hospital followed by two weeks recovering at home alone.

With support from Lady Grover, she was able to arrange home help during this crucial stage of her recovery.

"The two weeks spent at home, alone, after discharge from hospital were only made possible by having home help. It saved me the pain and anxiety of managing on my own."

The support also brought peace of mind to Josephine's daughters, who were caring for their own families whilst wanting to support their mother through her recovery.

Stories like Josephine's remind us why Lady Grover exists: to provide financial support when illness or injury creates unexpected challenges.

Thank you, Josephine, for allowing us to share your experience.

We always value hearing from our members and understanding the difference Lady Grover can make 💙.

Mrs McClements, a long-standing member, had been living independently for many years. At 91, following a back injury last summer, she needed a short period of respite care in a nursing home, followed by support at home during her recovery.

With limited funds available, Lady Grover stepped in to help. Our financial grant contributed towards her nursing home fees and, importantly, made it possible for her to return home with the nursing care she needed.

“I am delighted to say she has now fully recovered. We cannot thank Lady Grover enough.”

The family also shared how the straightforward application process and quick turnaround - receiving funding within just one week - helped ease what could otherwise have been a very stressful time.

We’re so pleased to have been able to support Mrs McClements and her family when it mattered most.

If you or someone you know - who's served or is serving in the Armed Forces - could benefit from becoming a member of Lady Grover, find out more here: https://www.ladygrover.org.uk

We’re delighted to welcome Warrant Officer Ann Thomas MBE to the Lady Grover Board.

Ann is currently the Cyber and Special Operations Command Warrant Officer in the Royal Air Force (RAF). Her role supports joint Defence capabilities across areas including intelligence, cyber, special forces, defence medical services, overseas bases and special operations.

Since joining the RAF in 1996, Ann has built an exceptional career spanning tri-service leadership roles, operational deployments (including TELIC, SHADER and KIPION), and senior mentoring programmes supporting the next generation of leaders.

Beyond service, Ann is also a passionate advocate for inclusion through sport. A former elite powerlifter, she is now President of the British Association and Chief Drug Control Officer in the World Federation, and has helped create life-changing sporting opportunities for disabled children.

Ann was awarded an MBE in 2019 and the Meritorious Service Medal in 2025.
We’re proud to have Ann join us as we continue our mission to champion women, leadership and opportunity.

We’re delighted to welcome Ann to the Board as we continue to support and connect our community through Lady Grover.

💙 Member Story: Support When It Matters 💙

When Lady Grover member, Jocelyn Lynch, needed major spinal surgery, recovery wasn’t just about medical care — it meant months of relying on her husband as a full-time carer.

Through Lady Grover’s financial support, Jocelyn was able to arrange regular home help, easing the physical and emotional strain on both of them and allowing her to focus on recovery with peace of mind.

“I am now well on the way to full recovery and my husband has not been totally worn out by it all. Thank you Lady Grover!”

We love hearing from our members and learning how Lady Grover has helped when it really matters. Jocelyn’s story shows how financial support towards the cost of home help can make a real difference for Armed Forces families during unexpected illness or injury.
