STOLEN BACKPACK

Hi, all, my daughter had her backpack stolen from the bar at the Wardrobe theatre last night. Nothing of much value, although the person who stole it quickly made use of her bank cards, but lots of necessary, needed and sentimental possessions have gone.

If you come across a black and brown Herschel backpack discarded somewhere, please cold you message me? I’m Erica Neustadt on facebook.

Many thanks!

🚨 WARNING FOR DOG OWNERS & VISITORS AT BRISTOL HARBOUR 🚨

Bristol City Council has launched an investigation into reports of suspected avian botulism—a serious, potentially deadly illness—affecting wildlife around Bristol Harbour and St George's Park. 🦢🐾⚠️

While partners continue to monitor the water, council officials are urging everyone visiting the area to stay vigilant and follow critical safety guidelines to protect both pets and families:

Safety advice for visitors:
🐕 Keep dogs on leads near the water and do NOT allow them to swim or drink.
🚫 Avoid contact with the water where possible.
🍞 Do NOT feed wild birds or touch any sick, injured, or dead animals.
🎣 Do NOT use live bait or food when fishing.

What to do if you spot affected wildlife:

If you see any sick or dead birds around the Harbour, please report it immediately to the council by calling 0117 922 2000. 📞

Botulism is a severe condition that requires urgent medical care. If you or someone you know experiences symptoms such as blurred vision, drooping eyelids, difficulty swallowing, or sudden muscle weakness, call 999 immediately. 🏥

Two Bristol s*x shops bid to renew licences 🛍️

Simplypleasure.Com on Bond Street and Rudies on West Street in Old Market are asking city councillors for the right to continue operating.

Both stores sell adult novelties, marital aids, explicit books and magazines, lingerie, and R18-rated films.

But despite their prominent locations, it seems nobody actually minds them being there.

Not a single public objection has been submitted against either property.

Even the police have chosen not to submit any comments on the applications.

When the council's neighbourhood enforcement team visited both premises in July, inspectors found they were "fully compliant with all conditions of their licence".

Under local rules, the council allows up to two s*x establishments in specific areas like the city centre and West Street.

Officers say the panel still needs to consider whether the shopfronts remain appropriate for busy daytime high streets.

They are reminding councillors to look at how close the shops are to places where people naturally gather.

A council report states: “Factors to take into consideration could include the proximity of the premises to to places where the public congregate for purposes other than use of the premises, such as bus stops and taxi ranks, the proposed hours of operation and the impact of the proposal on persons with protected characteristics who may be in the vicinity of the premises."
