We’re delighted to share the story of our recent project at Longwill School for Deaf Children in Birmingham - a space designed to support confidence, communication, physical development and, most importantly, joyful play.

Working closely with the school, our team created an outdoor environment that truly reflects the needs of its pupils, providing opportunities to take risks, build balance and spatial awareness.

Learning how much the children love the space, and the positive impact it has already had on their confidence and learning, is exactly why we do what we do. As the school put it: “We love, love, love it!”

There’s nothing better than hearing directly from the schools and children using the spaces we create, and this feedback from Jess Rosser at Longwill Primary School for Deaf Children truly means the world to us.

What makes this testimonial especially meaningful is hearing how we have created a space that has made a genuine difference to the children's confidence, development and day-to-day play experiences.

We’re excited to share our latest customer story from St Thomas More Catholic Primary School in Coventry, where a fantastic new outdoor space is already inspiring children to climb, balance, explore and challenge themselves through play.

From the very first day these children got to use the space, it has been full of energy, laughter and adventure - made even more special by a Live Learning Experience with our team. We walked each year group through the sustainable materials used in the installation, the construction process, and how to use the equipment safely and confidently. We also integrated key road safety lessons like “Stop, Look, Listen” into their everyday play; helping staff and pupils bring the new environment to life through active play and outdoor learning ideas.

It’s always wonderful to see a playground become a space for confidence, creativity and discovery from the moment the children step into it.

What a week we had last week at Phoenix Play!

It’s hard to believe it’s only just over a year since our big rebrand and we have been on full tilt. We’re still proudly owned by James Collis-Pritchard & Sam Flatman, and the team are continuing to build on the years of industry experience we have. To add more to the celebrations over the last 12 months, we’ve already received orders for over 40 exciting new projects in the first 3 weeks of May! Totalling well over £1 million in sales for another month (with a week still to go!). We’re incredibly grateful to all the customers who continue to place their trust in James, Sam and the whole team.

The best part? Knowing that every single project will soon become an environment where children can play, learn, explore, imagine, and have fun together outdoors.

Friday morning also took us to a very sunny Weston-Super-Mare, where we visited Ashcombe Primary School to run a Live Learning Experience with the children on their fantastic new Oak Climber, a challenge exclusively designed and made by Phoenix Play. From balancing and climbing to tackling brand-new challenges, it was brilliant to see so many smiling faces enjoying the space, and we had great fun showing them how to play safely and confidently too.

And finally… there’s was one particularly happy member of the Phoenix Play team enjoying the bank holiday weekend! As a lifelong Arsenal fan, our Managing Director James is absolutely over the moon at the news they’ve won the Premier League after a 22 year wait (around half his lifetime!). Safe to say he enjoyed celebrating this bank holiday weekend!

Outdoor Classroom Day 2026 takes place on 21st May, inspiring schools around the world to step outside and embrace the power of outdoor learning and play.

At Phoenix Play, we believe the outdoors is one of the most exciting classrooms there is - a place where imagination grows, confidence builds and children connect more deeply with both nature and each other. From boosting wellbeing and encouraging active learning to supporting creativity across literacy, science and maths, outdoor experiences can have a lasting impact on every child’s development.

Our latest blog (link in comments) is packed with creative ideas and practical activities to help schools make the most of Outdoor Classroom Day, and continue bringing learning to life outdoors long after the day is over.

Today is No Pens Day - a brilliant initiative championed by Speech and Language UK, encouraging children to put their pens down and focus on something just as important: talking, listening and connecting with one another.

At Phoenix Play, we know that some of the most meaningful learning happens through conversation, collaboration and play. That’s why we’ve put together a blog full of engaging ideas to help schools celebrate the day - sparking curiosity, encouraging communication and bringing children together through shared playful experiences.

From imaginative role play to interactive outdoor activities, it’s all about creating spaces and moments where every child feels confident to express themselves, build relationships and be heard.
