Withdrawn

Withdrawn From 18th April 2015 visitors to Leigh Woods in Bristol, may encounter with a flotilla of abandoned fishing boats installed in the depths of the woodland.

Installation artwork of 2015 by Luke Jerram. A beautiful, surreal and poetic vision in the woods, the sound of the wind in the trees is reminiscent of the sound of the waves. All of the boats are pointing the same way as if turned by the tide or moving together. Insitu for 6 months the boats can be explored by the public day or night and with the changing seasons. Miles from the sea, how did they

get here? Were they left by a receding tidal surge or a changing coast line? Or is this the effect of over fishing, causing fish stocks to collapse and with it the industry? This thought-provoking and engaging installation raises discussion about climate change, extreme weather, falling fish stocks and our impact on the marine environment. Delivered by Luke Jerram, Trust New Art Bristol, Forestry Commission with support from Flow Contemporary Arts.
