This week we held our first ever Home Ed’s ‘drop off’ session at Orchard Forest School. And wow what a turn out we had! ( thank you!)
This provided a chance for our over 8yrs Home Ed’s to be dropped off to us, giving parents/carers a couple of hours to themselves.
The beauty of this particular session was it was inspired by one particular Home Ed Explorer ‘T’ who had requested we run a session like this! So thank you T you know who you are! 🫶🏼
Yesterday’s explorers just know how to get stuck in and immersed with what was on offer! From working in teams and getting creative calving pumpkins to display in the orchard, to sawing, drilling, making miniature broomsticks/wands and helping with jobs!
And ofcourse the odd spooky s’more went down a treat too! 😉🔥
Parents/carers you need to be extremely proud of how your Home Ed explorers conducted themselves throughout their session, just like we are! 💚Everyone worked well together, shared tasks out fairly, showed care, kindness and consideration to each other, along with building on their own confidence and resilience skills. 💪🏼

We would like to introduce you to our newest Tuesday volunteer at Orchard Forest School, Pete!
Pete has been attending our Mini Explorer sessions for the past year with his granddaughter, and offered his help through volunteering with us!
So not being ones to turn down any help, we jumped at the chance!
Today was Pete’s first day in his volunteering role, and he nailed it! We hope he enjoyed it just as much as our Mini Explorers enjoyed having him here with us!

We’ve been very busy this morning with our Mini Explorers at Orchard Forest School. We’ve been creating witches brooms just like the one from ‘Room on the broom.’🧹🧙🏻‍♀️ and there was definitely room on one broom for one lucky grandad! 🧹🥰
Potions were created and some of our Mini Explorers helped our newest volunteer Pete with our apple harvest! 🍎🍎🍎
What a delightful morning of Autumnal fun! 🎃

Most ‘taxis’ come in the form of a veichle, but not at Orchard Forest School! 🧹
Today our Mini Explorers were hitching rides on each others broomsticks they’d created with Ellie!Pumpkins, potions and spooky tattoos were also on the agenda! 🎃🧪🕷️
What a fun afternoon session we’ve had today!

There’s been lots of spookiness going on in the orchard today at Orchard Forest School, with our Mini Explorers! Thank you to Brixham Library for loaning us lots of beautiful story books to support this weeks sessions. 🧹🎃🧙🏻‍♀️🕷️🕸️

This week we welcomed our teenage Young Carers back for their monthly evening session, at Orchard Forest School to enjoy some Autumnal crafting and to make their own apple crumbles to have after their burgers! Yum! 🍔 🍏
These sessions offer these deserving teenagers some time and space just to ‘be,’ away from their busy lifestyles and caring roles.
Thank you to Torbay Young Carers ( Torbay Council) for appreciating the value of these sessions and for funding them for these young people.

Mending gates, laying woodchip, cutting back and preparing craft resources are all in a days work for our Wednesday Warriors at Orchard Forest School! These guys are an integral part of our Forest School and the reason our environment remains an accessible and safe space for all our lovely visitors. 🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳
Whether it’s Ash’s tasty homemade soup they all come back for, or the chat and the laughs, the work out! or simply because they feel they ‘belong,’ we are extremely grateful that they come back each week to help us!
Thank you to everyone who turns up on Wednesdays and gets stuck in! We appreciate all the tasks completed however big or small! 🙏

We’re looking forward to our FIRST Home Ed ‘drop off’ session on Tuesday! A chance for your Home Ed explorers to reconnect and meet new friends in the orchard, whilst crafting and exploring nature. 🍁
We have a handful of spaces left, if anyone fancies a couple of hours to theirselves; cake, cuppa, meet up down at Lupton House cafe?! ☕️ Or pop into Brixham town for a mooch around,🛍️ knowing you’ve left your explorers having fun with us at Orchard Forest School! 🌳
