NEWS from Southern Water
Good morning
Further to last night’s update, I wanted to update you on the latest position, following operational challenges at Testwood Water Supply Works.
Our teams have been working throughout the night, and the site has been producing water since the early hours of this morning. Customers remain in supply as normal.
As a precaution, overnight we also started bottled water deliveries to those on our Priority Services Register in parts of Southampton, Eastleigh, Romsey, Totton, Hythe, the Waterside, and communities across the New Forest. These precautionary deliveries will continue today.
Alongside the challenges at Testwood, we’ve also been responding to four burst water mains in the Eling and Totton areas. Two burst repairs have been completed, and repairs on the final two are currently ongoing. Less than 40 properties are currently impacted by these bursts and they have all had bottled water delivered.
As advised last night, a precautionary bottled water station was prepared but is not expected to open, unless the situation changes. It will open if needed, and we will confirm details immediately if this happens.
We will be updating our social media channels this morning and customers receiving bottled water deliveries will also receive SMS messages.
To reiterate, Testwood Water Supply Works is currently operating as normal, water is being produced and there is no customer impact apart from the 38 properties affected by the bursts in Eling and Totton. We will provide a further update later this morning.
Kind regards.
John
