There is nothing quite like Being Me.
It is not a generic, one-size-fits all course.
It’s a thoughtfully designed, neuro-affirming group programme where young people come together to explore and understand their Autistic experience - safely, authentically, and alongside peers and Autistic Mentors.
It’s been developed by a team deeply committed to:
~ Learning about Autistic experience and identity
~ Understanding neurodiversity and disability theory
~ AND many of whom hold advanced academic qualifications in autism (PGCerts, BAs, MAs)
We combine lived experience with deep, specialist knowledge because both matter. That’s what keeps Being Me at the cutting edge and gives your young person access to something genuinely meaningful.
It also isn’t one-size-fits-all.
We actively listen, reflect, and adapt each group as it evolves. That level of care and responsiveness represents a huge investment in each young person’s experience.
And it’s not just for young people...
Parents/carers receive:
~ A detailed written or video guide helping you learn the theory too
~ Access to GROVE’s resource library with webinars and print resources
~ Free parent/carer groups
Because we want you to feel supported and part of the community too.
Feedback from our current groups:
"life-changing"
"loves the sessions"
"really enjoying Being Me"
"really helping recognise and understand certain traits she has in a positive way, especially when she can see that peers in the sessions have similar feelings and experiences"
"she is more confident to advocate for things that make her feel more comfortable, and this is so positive after years of sustained masking through school to fit in"
"we have a better understanding of how to support her when she is totally focused on her special interests"
"thank you so much for all your hard work, it is clear to see the dedication and thought that has gone into the overall programme and to the individual sessions"
"she looks forward to them every week and I think the biggest part is the social interaction she gets with other children who understand and experience the world in similar ways to how she does. This is something she has really been lacking, so incredibly grateful for what you do."
"having friendly adults like you and George who get it and don’t expect anything from the young people - no pressure, just understanding has been imperative to her experience and her wanting to participate each week, especially as a PDA’er."
We have 6 more weeks with these lovely young people and then just 3 groups open over the summer with some spaces still available.
