⚓️ A new chapter for Broughty Ferry RNLI

Our Trent-class lifeboat has served Broughty Ferry incredibly well over the years, but as part of the RNLI's long-term fleet plans, we'll be receiving a new Coastal Lifeboat in 2028. A new lifeboat capable of operating up to 25NM offshore with a top speed of 35 knots, which will allow us to reach those that we rescue faster. The CLB will have a watertight wheelhouse and will be self-righting. This is part of the RNLI’s 2040 Lifeboat Fleet Strategy.

While it'll be a big change for the station, the new boat is being designed for the kind of rescues we increasingly see today, with greater speed and the ability to operate close inshore, around shallow water and difficult coastal areas.

The boat may be changing, but our mission isn't. Our volunteer crew will be ready to embrace the challenge, complete the training and continue providing the lifesaving service our community relies on.

Behind every one of those numbers is a dedicated team of volunteers ready to answer the call, day or night, whatever the weather.

We're incredibly proud of our crew and grateful for the fantastic support we receive from our local community. Your support helps keep our lifeboats launching and our volunteers ready to respond when they're needed most.

October is shaping up to be another busy month with several events planned, and our station shop continues to be a favourite with visitors and supporters alike. If you're in the area, please come along, say hello and support your local RNLI station.

A worrying number of yellow welly stickers have escaped and are soon to be hiding in shop windows around Broughty Ferry... 👀🟡🥾

🎄 Christmas cards? In September? 🎄

Aye, we know.

But our much-loved Broughty Ferry RNLI Christmas cards have just arrived in the shop, courtesy of our fantastic supporters Winter & Simpson Print and we couldn't wait to show them off.

Featuring Broughty Ferry Castle and our lifeboat in a snowy festive scene, they're a lovely way to support YOUR local lifeboat while getting a head start on Christmas.

The bear spotted them arriving and has barely left their side since. We're not entirely sure if he's helping with sales or just trying to avoid doing any actual work.

Pop into our shop at St James Broughty Ferry Parish Church (opposite our Lifeboat Station) and have a look next time you're passing. Open 7 days 1030 to 330.

🚨 The secret’s out! 🚨

Tonight, Broughty Ferry RNLI takes to the screen as we feature on Saving Lives At Sea! 📺🚤

For months we've been keeping quiet that cameras followed the crew in action, but now we can finally let everyone see what goes on behind the scenes at our station.

If you've ever wondered what happens when the pager goes off, tonight's your chance to find out.

A huge credit to our volunteers and their families who make it all possible, and to everyone who supports the station.
