Brownhills Ormiston Academy

Brownhills Ormiston Academy Brownhills Ormiston Academy sits on the Staffordshire-Walsall border. Our values of ready, respect and safe underpin everything we do.

Our students leave us with the skills, attributes and academic qualifications to enjoy a life of choice and opportunity. We are exceptionally proud of our school and our community. At Brownhills, we have a clear and unwavering mission: we know that every student who walks through our doors has only one chance at their education. One single, precious opportunity to build the foundations to enjoy a

life filled with choice and opportunity. We understand that the five years at secondary school are not just a phase, but a defining chapter in a child’s story, one that will shape their futures in ways that you cannot imagine yet. Our commitment is simple but powerful. We will work tirelessly to create an environment where every student feels safe, valued, and inspired to push beyond their limits. There are no limits for a Brownhills student who chooses to work hard. Our three values are the drivers for the work of our school: ready, respect and safe. They are embedded in our culture of learning and the behaviours of our academy community. Our broad and ambitious curriculum enables students to acquire and retain the knowledge and skills required to meet their full academic potential and to be prepared for post-16 pathways. We offer a wide range of subjects that will give our students rich experiences at school. We are a school that is very well known for our sports, music and drama. Beyond our ambitious curriculum, our students have access to a range of wider opportunities, competitions, events, trips, and clubs. Our students must and will leave us with skills, attributes and academic qualifications to enable them to enjoy a life of choice and opportunity. Visitors often comment on the warm and friendly atmosphere in the school and the buzz of activity that greets them. Prospective students and their families are welcome to contact the academy to arrange a visit during or after the school day. Our Headteacher, Mr Doodson, is very clear with his message to our community: you have one chance at your education, and we all have to work together to make it count.

MEMORIES ARE MADE & CHALLENGES OVERCOME AS OUR BRILLIANT GROUP OF DUKE OF EDINBURGH STUDENTS COMPLETE THEIR 2 DAY EXPEDITION!

🌅 Day 2 of the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Expedition is complete, with all students making an early 8am departure from camp.

🏕️ Beaudesert was left spotless as the teams set off for another day of challenging navigation and walking across Cannock Chase.

🥾 It was a day full of determination, resilience and, for some, a little friendly competition to see who could reach the finish first!

👏 All of the staff are incredibly proud of every student for the teamwork, independence and life skills they have developed throughout the expedition.

🌟 Mrs Moore will be looking for the next group of keen explorers when she launches the Bronze award to Year 8 before the end of this term!

🥾 All Brownhills Duke of Edinburgh Bronze students are safely back at camp after a long and challenging day exploring Cannock Chase.

⛺ This evening, it’s time to pitch tents, settle in, and prepare a well-earned dinner.

⚾ Once camp is set up, there may even be time for a game of rounders before the day comes to an end. All in good spirits. Assessment Day 2 tomorrow.

🏆 YEAR 7, 8 & 9 ROUNDERS - A BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE FROM OUR COMMITTED PLAYERS!

⚾️ On Monday night a team of year 7,8 and 9 students travelled to Barr Beacon for a friendly game.

🌧️Unfortunately the weather has not been kind recently forcing us to cancel organised games and tournaments.

🤩 However, despite not playing as a team before the girls worked together brilliantly demonstrating advanced knowledge of the game and applying tactics excellently.

👏 At the end of the two innings the final score was 20.5-5. Girl of the game was year 9 captain Faye who displayed fantastic leadership skills throughout. Well done to all of the girls involved.

❤️ We have year 8 at a tournament at Shire Oak tonight, training as normal after school tomorrow and next week year 9 and seniors travel to Shire Oak for their tournament.

❤️ YEAR 11 LEAVERS 2026 - SAYING GOODBYE TO AN UTTERLY FANTASTIC YEAR GROUP

💙 Year 11, it has been a pleasure. You are delightful and you have been the most wonderful Senior Year to lead us through the last 12 months. You have worked so hard, led by example, done us proud and all the while, with smiles on your face and a superb attitude to everything you do.

❤️ Today's goodbyes included shirt signings, cupcakes prepared for them by our lovely caterers, a leavers assembly, photos on the field and a guard of honour from students and staff.

💙 The students left their ties on the gate...a symbol that they will always have a place here at our great school. It has been a very emotional day, but now all is left to say is all the best for your lives of choice and opportunity that lay ahead. We are so proud to call you part of the Brownhills community and now, Brownhills alumni.
