Could Your Garden Help Uncover Local History?
The Teignbridge Gardens Project – Volunteers & Gardens Wanted
The Teignbridge Archaeological Society is launching an exciting new community archaeology initiative: The Teignbridge Gardens Project.
They are looking for volunteers and local residents across Teignbridge and South Devon who may be interested in hosting a small archaeological test pit in their garden.
A test pit is a small 1m x 1m excavation, carefully dug to investigate the history of a site through finds such as pottery, clay pipes, building material, and other artefacts. Even small discoveries can help us better understand the story of our villages and communities, and ultimately Teignbridge, through time.
The project also aims to give local people the opportunity to gain practical archaeological skills and hands-on experience, whether they have a long-standing interest in history or are simply curious to learn something new.
No previous experience is necessary.
