Shared from another page but this is what farmers like us strive for when producing native & rare breeds, here's 2 lovely steaks from undoubtedly good animals but the Limousin these animals will be big fast growing corn fed animals, with pretty much no marbling in the meat compared to the Hereford which was a grass reared slower growing animal resulting in a far superior texture & flavor, the comments by butchers, chefs & farmers alike had the Hereford beef winning hands down. Quantity & cheap meat does not mean quality.

So as part of the celebrations of the Clun forest sheep breeds celebrating 100 years of it officially being a breed part of its centenary celebrations included a farm tour of a flock just down the road from us. It's a rare but local breed to us thats always been in my family which I'm very proud of. The day included a lamb roast, stock judging, farm tours & talks & a lamb trimming demonstration. Which I've included photos of before & after but will post more detailed videos later.

So we've had a few busy weeks with ewe & ram sales buying & selling stock & did rather well with our 1st ever home bred Clun ewe lamb coming 3rd in her Class at the Centenary sale in Ludlow, we ended up taking her home in the end, but also ended up buying this handsome lad to put some nice new bloodlines in :)

Personally I've always thought that Turkey is an overrated meat & to me this American imposter tastes just like an overgrown chicken.
