Good morning all,

We are appealing for information from the community following a theft from cash machines in Bude overnight.

Officers were called at 1am to reports of an alarm activation at Morrison’s on Stucley Road in Bude.

It’s believed that tools have been used to force entry to the machines outside the shop and that cash has been taken.

At this time, we believe that a blue car is involved and we are working to establish the make and model.

We are in the early stages of our investigation and looking to establish the circumstances and gather as much information which may assist us.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour or vehicles in the area around this time is asked to report it to us. We’d also ask the community in the area to check dash-cam and doorbell footage from overnight.

More information will be provided as we have it confirmed and ask that people report information directly to us by calling 101 or via our website quoting log 26 of 9/4/26.

The Public Enquiry Office at Bude Police Station is also open from 10am – 3pm Monday to Friday if you wish to report there.

Many thanks!

❗️TRAVEL GUIDANCE | Storm Chandra is bringing rain, wind and flooding across Devon and Cornwall this evening.

If you are travelling on the roads overnight or in the morning, please check the latest travel information before doing so.

We are starting to see some roads become flooded and impassable and this is only likely to increase overnight.

If you know the roads you usually use are likely to flood – please avoid them. Do not attempt to drive through flood water.

If you are using the roads, please drive with caution and care, drive to the conditions and allow plenty of time for your journey. You should also increase your distance from other vehicles and stay attentive to your surroundings.

Your safety and the safety of others depend on responsible driving during adverse weather conditions.

There are many places to check information on the roads including - https://orlo.uk/iH9jj your local news, the map app on your phone and other local traffic platforms.

Thank you and stay safe.

Warning after spate of high-value thefts, East Cornwall

We have launched an investigation after receiving multiple reports of residential burglaries over the last few days in Bodmin, Launceston and Bude.

Detectives believe that thieves have specifically targeted homes of small business owners while they have been at work and believe that an organised crime group is behind the thefts.

Detective Constable Harry Mills said: “We believe that the gang have specifically targeted addresses taking jewellery and cash.

“Thieves have gained entry by forcing their way through the rear of properties and thorough searches have been conducted to locate gold, concealed cash, and jewellery. Safes have also been targeted and removed from properties.

“We have been conducting proactive patrols in the areas affected as well as across the county and are urging residents to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activity, and review home security arrangements.

“If anyone has any information that may assist, please contact Devon and Cornwall Police quoting Occurrence number 50260013214.”

Shoplifting is a sector priority and this has been a good result in our fight against this type of crime.

We would like to thank the public, the North Cornwall Neighbourhood team and Patrol - this has been a joint effort.

Can you help us?

Gaining quick access to a property can be vital for saving lives or securing evidence...

Our Specialist Operations team are looking for any unwanted metal roller shutter doors, sheets of metal or metal skinned doors, which they'll use to practice door-breaching techniques.

The team would also be grateful for any unwanted toughened plastic doors.

If you think you may be able to help, please get in touch with Matt by emailing [email protected].

If the door meets our needs, we’ll arrange to collect it from you.

Thank you!
