3 Beaches in Bude have been awarded a Blue Flag!

Ten beaches across Cornwall have been recognised as some of the best in the world after receiving Blue Flag status.

The coveted Blue Flag is an international award managed by Keep Britain Tidy on behalf of the Foundation for Environmental Education.

It is only presented to beaches with water that has achieved the highest classification, as set by the EU Bathing Water Directive, and that have an environmental education programme.

Nine beaches owned by Cornwall Council will be flying Blue Flags throughout the 2025 summer season. They are:
• Crooklets
• Polzeath
• Porthmeor
• Porthminster
• Porthmissen/Trevone
• Porthtowan
• Summerleaze
• Widemouth
• Gyllyngvase Beach
Carbis Bay in St Ives, which is privately owned, has also received Blue Flag status.

A further five beaches in the Duchy have received a Seaside Award, which are presented to the best beaches in England and celebrate the quality and diversity of our coastline. They are:
• Crackington Haven
• Great Western
• Porth
• Portreath
• Sennen

Cornwall Council commissions the RNLI to provide lifeguard cover on many of Cornwall’s beaches. Beachgoers are urged to visit beaches with RNLI patrols and to follow the RNLI’s beach safety advice.
