☀️ Feeling the heat? We've got you covered! 💧

If you're out on the Green and need a drink, pop over to the Public Hall and help yourself to some fresh, cool water. The drinking fountain can be found on the long side of the building, near the bus stop.

We've even got water available for our four-legged visitors too, just outside the main door! 🐶🐴🐾

Whether you're out for a stroll, running errands, or simply looking to cool down for a moment, please feel free to stop by.

Let's all look after ourselves – and our furry friends – during this hot weather. 🌞💙

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and enjoy the sunshine! ☀️😎

News Flash
Tue 16 June
7.52pm

There is one remaining vehicle on Fore Street that is preventing the resurfacing work from being completed.

The vehicle is a black CR-V type vechicle.

If you are the owner, or if you know who the owner is, please arrange for it to be removed immediately so the resurfacing work can continue.

Thank you.

🚧 High Street Works – Phase One Complete 🚧

We are pleased to share that Phase One of the High Street works has now been completed. The team will be back tonight to continue works.

Projects of this scale can only succeed with the support and understanding of local residents and businesses, and we would like to take this opportunity to offer our sincere thanks to everyone who has co-operated throughout this stage of the project.

Last week, members of the Devon Highways team spent time meeting traders and residents while carrying out liaison activities. The feedback from the team was overwhelmingly positive. They greatly enjoyed meeting so many people and were extremely grateful for the warm welcome, patience and support shown throughout the works.

One team member said, “It was lovely meeting the traders and residents affected by these works and the support we had was amazing.” Another added, “People and businesses in Budleigh were lovely and supportive.”

We recognise that roadworks can cause disruption, and we are grateful for the understanding shown by the community. Your encouragement, cooperation and positive engagement have made a real difference.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this project so far.

ROAD CLOSURE - Station Road
11 and 12 June 2026

The original traffic management plan was scheduled to take place last week, with one side of the road remaining open while traffic used the other side.

Unfortunately, the cones put in place by the contractor were removed, and vehicles continued to park on Station Road. As a result, the works could not be carried out safely as planned, causing delays to the programme.

To ensure the works can now be completed safely and efficiently, the contractor has been left with no option but to implement a full road closure.

We appreciate that this may cause inconvenience and thank residents and road users for their patience and understanding while these essential works are completed.

Update: 10.6.26

High Street and Fore Street Resurfacing

See the official notice and map below.

The Wales and west works on Cricketfield Lane will not be on the road anymore by the DCC start date on the 15th June. The diversion signs on Upper Stoneborough Lane will be used for DCC’s diversion for the overnight works instead.

Message from Devon Highways

Due to the major deterioration of Budleigh High Street and Fore Street contingency money has been made available to resurface the road under emergency works.

To be able to carry out these important works DCC will need to close the road 15th - 19th June (weather dependent) from 7pm – 7am. We will require any car owners that park there during this time to kindly move them so we can effectively deliver these works.

Further information about these closures can be found on Causeway one.network - Works reference:
