Burford crew last night took some time to practice some water rescue training in Burford.

With high temperatures we took the time to speak with adults, families and young people about the risk of entering bodies of water during high heat.

With an outside temperature of 32c and a river temperature of 18c although inviting, suddenly entering the water can cause cold water shock and a large intake of breath could cause water to be brought into the lungs.

With multiple people passing away over the past month across Europe in rivers and open water please be vigilant and always monitor young people around water.

We are actively seeking at least 8 incredible people to join our team at Burford as on-call firefighters!

This is a paid role that fits around your family, personal, and work life. With flexible options, you can make a real difference in your community while balancing your commitments.

We are looking for new team members to provide day and night cover responding locally, either
From your place of work, home (within 6 minute drive) or from one of our remote work stations.

👉You don't have to live in Burford to apply! If your employer allows, you can work from the station and still meet the requirements.
Making it easier to be part of our team🧑‍🚒

Think you've got what it takes? Or know someone who would be perfect for the role?

💧 Water Supply Update

I’ve received a further update from Thames Water this afternoon 👇

Engineers have confirmed that the area is now beginning to build pressure in the network, and their systems are showing water output again. Provided there are no further issues, pressure should continue to build and water supply will gradually return to customers throughout this afternoon.

While supply continues to stabilise, two fully staffed bottled water stations remain open for residents who need supplies:

📍 Sainsbury’s, Witan Way, Witney
📍 Morrisons, Black Bourton Road, Carterton

To make access easier for residents in other areas, Thames Water is also delivering pallets of bottled water to local locations. These are not staffed stations, but residents are welcome to take what they need.

🚚 Pallet drop-off locations include:
• The White Hart, OX29 0RA – https://what3words.com/coasting.relishing.sampling
• Burford School, OX18 4JG - https://what3words.com/diverting.attention.thickened

Please only take what you need so supplies can help as many people as possible. I will continue to share updates as the situation develops and as more information becomes available.

Thank you to residents for your patience while the network recovers we are all doing what we can to get the water back on.
