Candida Lewis – for Haywards Heath East
I was born in West Sussex and trained as a doctor. I have worked for many years as a GP in a community health centre, with a strong focus on women’s wellbeing, committed to promoting healthier, more active lives for women and families. I am also a parish councillor. I bring a detailed understanding of how a properly funded and well-run NHS can work with social and council services to improve lives. I am married, have one son, and enjoy walking and cycling.

Jake Tennant – for Burgess Hill East
Burgess Hill born and raised and I have been lucky enough to start my own family here. I love living in Sussex, it’s a beautiful place with a vibrant and friendly community.
West Sussex provides so much opportunity and potential, and County Councils deliver vital public services. Mismanagement and poor use of funds by the Conservative-led Council has left key services adversely affected. I will work to hold the Conservatives to account.

We want a transport network that works for local people, whether you are going to work, school, your GP surgery, shopping or visiting family and friends.
We aim to do this by having a transport policy that focuses on:
Re-nationalising railways under "Great British Railways," to improve punctuality and passenger experience.
Empowering local authorities to own and operate their own bus companies and
to franchise bus services, and promoting green, integrated and upgraded transport infrastructure.
Promoting cycling and walking infrastructure.

The Labour Party are committed to restoring clean waterways. We will do this by:
Halving sewage pollution in rivers, lakes, and seas by 2030.
Severe, automatic penalties for illegal sewage discharges.
Banning bonuses for water bosses if they fail to meet environmental standards.
Mandatory, real-time, independent monitoring of every emergency overflow outlet.
Placing water companies under "special measures," which may include replacing the regulator with a new 'Clean Water Authority' and implementing a new supplier of last resort mechanism.
Accelerating infrastructure projects to reduce pollution and upgrading monitoring to move away from self-reporting by water companies

Pam Haigh - for Burgess Hill North
I have lived in Burgess Hill since 2006. It's a great place to live but it could be even better! I worked in Service Delivery and Project Management in a large telecoms company, and went on to run a website design business. I will use my work expertise to hold the conservative-led Council to account and get the needs of Burgess Hill to the top of the agenda. From the Town Centre regeneration, Northern Arc infrastructure - and yes repairing potholes!

David Morley – for Haywards Heath Town
A resident of Mid Sussex for many years with a long career in banking and finance, I have a keen interest in books and art. As a previous Mid Sussex Councillor I understand the challenges we face, and I will ensure the voices of local residents get heard. We live in a lovely part of the country and I want to see Haywards Heath and West Sussex grow and prosper and have well financed, well run public services.

Clair Hall and the Martlets – Community venues
When are we going to get the promised developments in Haywards Heath & Burgess Hill? Re-development work for Clair Hall & the Martlets has gone through many iterations and discussions, but not one spade has been put in the ground to start building work, in both cases internal and, or external demolition took place a number of years ago, leaving unusable eyesores and all we get are false promises that usually raise their head around election time. The controlling political parties at both County and District councils seem unable to negotiate to get the work started, with the all important end date!
Let’s try a new approach – vote for Labour councillors on 7th May who will hold councils and contractors to account, our residents deserve better than the status quo.

Linda Taylor – for Hassocks & Burgess Hill South
I am proud to have been selected as your Labour candidate for Hassocks and Burgess Hill South. I have lived and worked as a teacher in the area for many years and I'd be honoured to represent you on West Sussex County Council. I strongly believe in high quality public services alongside social justice and support for all those who need it. I will be a visible, active and energetic councillor working to improve life in West Sussex.

Andrew Foster - for Hurstpierpoint & Bolney
I spent 40 years in the British Army and since retirement have lived in Mid Sussex. I am keen to progress and help deliver tangible change to local public services. I believe in the need for good social housing, with excellent infrastructure support and communications, schools that meet your children’s needs, a strong local NHS delivery, an effective police presence. If elected, I will work tirelessly on your behalf to deliver high quality local public services.

Labour Values
All our candidates fully support Labour Party values.
With West Sussex County Council elections just a week away, lets look at what those values mean: whose side we are on and who we deliver for.
We’re on the side of working people and their families
That’s why we’ve scrapped the cruel two-child limit, strengthened rights for workers and renters, and supported families with higher wages, childcare and lower energy bills.
We’re on the side of everyone who relies on the NHS.
We’re cutting waiting lists, delivering millions more appointments, recruiting 2,000 new GPs and bringing care back into communities with new Neighbourhood Health Centres.
We’re on the side of communities across our country.
The streets people live on. The high streets they want to see thriving again. The places people are proud to call home, but too often feel have been overlooked or left behind. With more neighbourhood police, tougher action on antisocial behaviour, potholes fixed, and local people shaping our £5 billion Pride in Place fund.
This is what Labour values look like in action. we are on your side. Security for working people. An NHS there when you need it. Communities treated with the respect they deserve.

Linda Gregory – for Lindfield & High Weald
Since the age of 10 In have spent most of my life in Sussex apart from a few years in London, serving as a Borough Councillor in Tower Hamlets. My career has been in trade union negotiations, and employee relations. I will use my experience to represent the people of Lindfield and High Weald. I will always be available to listen to your concerns and take action to improve life in West Sussex.
Ian Renshaw – for Cuckfield & Lucastes
An accountant, I spent 14 years working in local government finance in a district council and subsequently an inner London borough. I then spent 17-years working in hotel finance for US based hotel companies. I am currently running a training company/exam centre along with my wife. We need to hold the current Conservative led Council to account and challenge decisions to ensure local residents get the public services they rightly deserve.
