Our Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) outlines how we'll help keep Lancashire safer over the next five years.

Following feedback from our communities, partners and employees earlier this year, we've developed our draft plan and are now launching the second phase of our consultation.

We're asking for your views on the community risks we've identified and how we plan to prevent and respond to them.

Could your child be our next Fire Cadet?

Does your child aged 13–18 want to learn new skills, build confidence and be part of a team?

Our Fire Cadets programme gives young people the opportunity to experience life as part of a uniformed service. They’ll be provided with a Fire Cadet uniform, attend weekly sessions at their local fire station and learn valuable skills including teamwork, leadership, communication and self-discipline.

Fire Cadets also have the chance to represent Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service at community events, work alongside our teams and learn from operational firefighters and community safety staff.

It’s a great opportunity for young people to make new friends, develop confidence and gain skills that will support them both now and in the future.

Fire Cadets is run at our station.

Applications close 21 July 2026 for a September start date.

Lancashire is set to see yet another heat wave with temperature still to increase.
Our staff have been carrying out Swift Water Rescues drills in best preparedness for what may occur.

With temperatures rising, many people will be spending more time outdoors and visiting Lancashire’s rivers, lakes, canals, reservoirs and other open water sites. While these places can look inviting on a hot day, not all open water is safe.

Between May and August, almost half of all accidental drownings in the UK occur and the risk increases when temperatures rise.

When the average maximum temperature reaches 25°C or above:
• The risk of accidental drowning is five times higher than on cooler days.
• More people enter the water, with over half of those who drowned having been swimming.
If you’re heading near water this summer:
• Choose supervised swimming areas where possible.
• Never enter the water to help someone else, call 999 and encourage them to Float to Live.
• Learn the Float to Live technique: lie on your back, keep your head back with your ears submerged, relax, spread your arms and legs, and control your breathing.

Our teams are out across Lancashire speaking with young people and sharing vital water safety advice to help everyone stay safe this summer.

At 14:45 today fire crews from across Lancashire were called to a commercial property fire on Billington Road, Burnley.

Currently there are twelve fire engines in attendance.

If you can see or smell smoke, please keep your windows and doors closed.

Please stay away from the area and do not fly drones, as this may hinder firefighting operations.
